Custom Leer tracks?

2017 White DCLB Sport

I have a Leer canopy that did not come with the roof cargo tracks.

I'm considering relocating my RTT to the canopy, but Leer wants almost $300 for the tracks alone and won't install them.

However, I have several sections of 8020 1x1 extrusions laying around that I was going touse for another project but ended up going in a different direction and didn't use them. I figure I could mount those up there pretty easily with 1/4-20 hardware.

Thoughts? Is there anything that I'm missing?
