Had a good Pioneer amp and Pioneer 8" dual voice coil laying around. Since I do wood working, I thought what the hell...the speaker needs a cabinet and I want more better bass. Always liked the MTX Thunderform cabinet the way it just sits in there and everything else behind the seat stays put. So I made one very similar. Wasn't a piece of cake by any stretch. The angles and there not being a flat surface big enough or with enough depth behind it made it challenging. Making a flat surface for the woofer to mount to between two angled surfaces was tough...but a couple of jigs and a long tracing router it did the job. Unfortunately after finishing I overlooked that the Pioneer sub woofer was rated for two ohms which made my amp (mounted under the seat) hot as hell. Since it was easier to switch speaker driver than find a different amp I found a 4 ohm Rockford Fosgate replacement. The amp runs cool and the whole system sounds great.

    Nice job!
I built an enclosure last year for my 10" JL Audio. I couldn't meet the internal volume requirement a nice as I wanted to and have the seat fold up (even with the black plastic removed), so I made it larger and went ported. It's still plenty out of the way and I keep my rear seats down 99% of the time. The hard part was getting it to fit with all those irregular bumps in the back.

In an odd chain of events I sold my Tacoma. So this sub woofer is for sale. Contact me if anyone is interested.
