Custom Ordering a Tacoma.

I recently saw a new Cement TRD Off-Road at one of my local dealers with a set of TRD Pro black wheels. There was no dealer window sticker only the factory window sticker so it wasn't something added by the dealer. Truck stickered for 42 and change.

My question is, how far can this be taken if you order a new Tacoma? For example, could you order a TRD Off Road with a Sport hood? Get a Pro grille from the factory on sport or offroad? Pro headlights?

Has anyone asked or tried to do things like this when ordering from the factory?

 

Trucks leave the factory as a complete package. There are port and dealer addons, but if you wanted all that stuff you would have to purchase them as accessories.

 

You can have just about anything you want if you pay for it

 

When I was looking in 2016 I learned they don’t do custom orders. There were a set number of combinations of colors and packages coming out of the factory. The truck I wanted was 4 months away from production and destined for an Oregon dealer. My local dealer in Maryland ‘traded’ a slot for a minivan that the Oregon dealer wanted so my truck left the factory and headed to Maryland.

 

True, full on custom orders don't exist anymore. With a couple of small, usually expensive, exceptions.

Some regions have 'specialty' packages. Almost always cosmetic fluff.

Your dealer may willingly work to modify the truck after they have it in house.

Like the wheels you mention. Just because there wasn't a 'sticker' on the truck does not mean the dealer didn't install them.

 

If custom orders did exist, I'd be driving an Access cab SR-5 4X4 V6 6M/T with tow package.

 

Same here, but in a regular cab configuration and maybe the OR pkg.
