Just recently some punk thought it would be cool to key my whole passenger side panels including the tail gate. Insurance cut a check for repairs, paint materials, and labor for the 3-stage color. It was more than enough for a full 2-stage change color and I kind of got bored of the color haha. I just wanna keep it clean and keep the OEM look like it came out of the factory. Here's some pics of that thundercloud gray I pulled up from google. What you guys think? http://www.floridaracing.org/510/paint/charles2.JPG

Damn I really want to but I had them shaved on my 97 back then, and sometimes the door poppers won't work because they tend to get stuck and you have leak issues as well. I'm gonna do some research before I make up my mind. It would look really nice though but then I would want to shave my gas lid and that would be too much of a hassle trying to relocate the gas tank.

Finally back with an update. Thought I'd drop some teaser pics of what I got planned for the project taco. I finally scored on a sweet deal of brand new shoes in the sizes i've been looking for. 20x9 and 20x10 +15 offset all around. Stretched on 225/35 and 245/35 tires. I could've went a bit more aggressive on the front specs due to the negative camber, but for now I'm probably gonna run a 25mm spacer to match the rears. The shop will pull my bed panels out a little before paint so when I lower it another 2-3 inches it will sit nicely above the sidewall of the tires. Right now I'm looking for a shop to somehow relocate the leafspring hangers to sit a lil higher because that is whats stopping me from going lower. I'm already scraping on tiny speed bumps! The pics were taken right after I lowered it from the jack and should look a lot lower once the suspension and shocks settle in.

Alright change of plans guys. I guess I'm just gonna keep the same color and just have the shop reclear the whole truck because paint was starting to dull. I guess it was because whoever sprayed it used a slow reducer and didn't let it dry long enough before wetsanding. I was also gonna have them spray the grille center mesh area black and leave the chrome border and maybe take out the bumper grille so it doesn't look too much going on in the front. Same with the triangles, I'm gonna have them spray it black as well. After installing my front wheels I noticed even though with the 9'' width and +15 offset the camber still had my wheels too sunken in so I bought a pair of 1.25'' wheel adapters to push them out and now they look a lot better. The rears will be flared about half inch to match the fronts. As for the rear wheel gap, I think I need to drop it another 1''-2'' and I'm done with suspension I think haha. Okay enough talk, on with the pics! I'll update again once we get more progress towards the build.

What is the point of the flared tires? I want to clarify that I am not bashing at all. I have just seen it a lot and don't know anything about it. Just a cool look for some people or is there any more back story to it?

The tires are flared out because the shop hasn't pulled the panels yet and yes I am trying to go with the flush style because I think it compliments the wheels and I love the look. I'm so used to seeing tucked in oversize rims on custom minis, so I want to try something different.

    Thanks bro. :)

I wouldn't say beast just yet, but soon I will be!

After I got it from the shop the first time, I just had the tail gate plastic cover removed and left the wires just hanging out with my handle taped on there. Haha, I know it looked really ghetto! I bought a damaged tail gate from another TW member and now the shop is going to cut the section where the handle is placed and weld it inside facing the other way. I heard they started prepping the truck for paint so I'm hoping the body work is finished.

You'll be fine running those specs in the rear but not sure about the fronts. It's definitely possible though, might just take some extra work. I would trim the fender liner, roll the inner tabs flat and maybe a slight pull if there's still some rubbing issues. Also, stretch tires would help a lot and the lower you go, the more camber your gonna have.

I ordered some Xii performance 2'' steel drop leafs and defined engineering rear shackles to drop the rears at least another 1.5''-2'' more. Gonna wait and see after the install how much I would need to drop the fronts to match the rears.

That's my exact setup for my rears (4'' beefed blocks and 4x4 leafs) plus QA1 shocks. If i got my measurements right, I should be 7'' in the rear after installing the 2'' Xii leafs (2.5'' for base model tacos), 4'' blocks, and defined shackles (.5''). Ryan's got the shackles and he says they're a great upgrade from stock and greasable too.

Here's a link to their website.
