solid snugtop. I can't believe no one came with a solution for this. All we need is a rack with some water channel at the bottom on the interior of the bed to rest the cover and prevent water from coming in. Front and back can use the same concept used in traditional covers.

I wish someone would make it happen to have pictures, Lol...
I would do it but I can't narrow the cover.

No, I mean do you have pictures of your cover, or a link to your specific cover?

Here it is. Seems to work pretty good.
can't roll it up all the way but close. Also when opening you have to slide it a bit to clear the first bar. 20230529_111014.jpg

I will need to cut and extend the cross bars since
The side brackets were are more to the edge now.

I happened on this post by chance. I just had the Retrax one XR installed before I left on a 6-week adventure. I spent a couple years getting to the point where I was willing to cover my beautiful long bed with a cover. I didn't want to lose any functionality. I spent months slumming the site looking at what others have done. I wanted an option that included putting an overland rack onto the bed cover while not limiting access to the area below the retractable bed cover.

While somewhat disappointed in the Retrax One XR due to its propensity to retract up to 1/2" exposing the bed to outside visibility, it kept all my stuff dry and secure during the outward portion of the trip. I just had to make a point of re-closing the bed cover when I stopped for sleep/food.

Now I am at the point of deciding on an overland rack option. Whatever decision I make has to include mounting to the T-Rack side rail I had installed when the oneXR was installed. I liked the ability to mount racks to the bed rail via T-brackets vs using the Toyota rail system.

Figured I’d finally post some pics of what I ended up doing for a rack/tonneau setup. Went with a Bak revolver tonneau which I am mostly happy with (really only wanted the security and rain resistance was a perk), and I ended up rigid mounting low profile, non-perforated, stainless unistrut to the bed rails outside of where the tonneau rails set, with 1/4 aluminum plate “nuts” silicon glued under the sheet metal where the bolts anchor through for rigidity. Then bought a cheap Amazon universal rack and welded and modified it to meet my needs, made width extendable for two canoes as needed. I only really mount the rack on when I need to haul canoe(s) or excessively long items. Could also anchor anything else on the bed rails, but for the most part I don’t have the need. Might buy/make a meshed headache bar to put on when the rack is off to prevent throwing wood thru the window. Nice part is that it is super rigid, likely overkill, but material cost wise probably as cheap as the cheapest options available on the market. Of course, can’t factor my time into that number….

Can you post some pictures of how you attached that unistrut to your bed/bed rail? Looks like a very clean install and very well done, I just was curious to see the mounting solution

No money, all went to truck...
I bought all the parts to do the L-track install but never did it yet. There's a dude on here (I can't find the thread) that used rivet nuts to install l-track.

I didn’t take any photos during the install. I used some aluminum flat stock (5/16” thick I think) and made some roughly 1” x 2” nuts that I put under the bed rails after drilling thru holes; one could also just use washers and nuts, but I bonded mine with a few dollops of silicon do I can remove the bolts holding the rail and they stay in place. If you have skinny arms and or a small child to reach up between the bed liner and outside of the bed, nothing needs to be removed, other than the tail lights to access the rear most bolt and the plastic bed cap if you want to make sure not to hit any of the punched knockout in the bed rail sheet metal. I thought about the rivnuts and similar items but longevity and pullout strength had me concerned. I used 6x 5/16-18 button head screws on each side - overkill yes, but I’ll never be worried about them pulling off. Also considered the rhino rts (I think) rails or l-track, but even those rails are aluminum and not very wide. Again, my setup is overkill, but weight wise I figured it was worth the few extra pounds (pretty minimal) and the time. It did take a while to get everything cut, drilled, painted, and attached exactly how I wanted, but I’m happy with the results. Cost was less than other solutions, ignoring my time…
If anyone else is interested in doing the same thing with a 6’ bed, I can take measurements of where I put the thru bolts are to avoid the knockouts

For anyone else looking for a tonneau cover /rack set up - In April 2024 look for RealTruck BAK Revolver X4TS Tonneau Cover. It will come with integrated rails for racks such as the Elevate Rack.
