Yes well that entire decision is based on tcBob's verdict - which is dependent upon 1) Me selling this and 2) tcBob seeing enough differentiation to not put the kabash on it.

So, in the meantime.. I am not selling, but I am still designing as you and I have stated. At best, I will talk to Bob and see what I may potentially be able to do. I am about to have my second child on my hands, so I would definitely like to make loads of these and share the fun, but I may not be able to. It's all up in the air right now.

I will be making v3 cardboard mockup today, so I will post progress pictures tonight. Thanks for all the support and wise words so far everyone!

That would require granted patents on theirs/others roof racks. I write patents (I have over 20) and develop products for a living so if there is such patent whose claims my design directly violates or emulates, then yes I would not be able to sell. Again, I am not looking to sell at this point in time this is merely a progress thread on the development of my own roof rack.

They are all similar because there is no patent (ornamental or utility) on skid plates and rock sliders, or steps. People just make them and sell them.

Got em all squared away! I’ve had to put off roof rack because I’ve been working on finishing my basement at the same time.

Sorry Luke, your thread was going so good too. I might'a destroyed the harmony.
