Custom Soft topper with camping kit

Finished up my soft topper and am in the middle of a 5,000 mile road trip testing it out. Made it to Vermont from Colorado and am camping in it for the first time. The bug mesh Velcros to the inside of the topper, and the tailgate cover works with or without the rear cover zipped up. Overall very happy with how it turned out!

 

What material did you used?

 

I would much appreciate a
modification to the commercial soft topper that would allow one or both sides to be "winged out from the snapped bottom (compression struts) and then have a bug net drape back to original snap rails.
If only I were a bit more handy with the sewing machine....;-)

the topper is made from Shelter Rite from Sailrite, an 18oz PVC coated polyester that is strong and UV resistant. I used their window material and Lenzip #12 zippers- hope they hold up!
