I have had my tacoma for a week now and love it, just needs some bump. I started looking into sub boxes that fit behind the rear seats and they are pricy, 130+30 for shipping. So I decided to make my own. I built It out of 1/2" mdf, all joints are glued and nailed with 1-1/4" finish nails. Then just wrapped with some thin carpet I got from home depot. The Box will house 2 8" kicker comp subs. Going to run a mtx 500w amp, and going to replace stock deck with a double din USB deck. All parts coming from eBay, I'll post more pics as I go.

Looks good. Just make sure the 8's have the recommended air space. That box looks to be about .3 cubic +/- per side.

Thanks, I did the calculation, it's .88 cu foot, so .44 cu per sub, they recommend .5 per sub so I think it's close enough. I don't plan on pushing them to the max.

I was looking at these boxes from supercrewsound and they offer for 8" or 10" subs, same box just different cutout. nesume4e_d9edac9ae18f489f6bc1f99a4599d6f76a076e8e.jpg
The air space Is only .65cu foot, most 10" subs require a minimum of 1cu foot... Has anyone used these boxes with a 10" with no issues?

I'll have to wait and see how mine sounds to know for sure but I think it should sound pretty good.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
You can always add some poly fill.

Oh I plan too, it kinda tricks the speaker into thinking the box is bigger.

I built one similar to that box, but mine is .53 cubic feet. That includes the speaker. It sounds excellent!

The airspace depends on the speaker. That's the reason I built mine .52. The minimum for my sub is .50.

Yeah the subs I got require .5cu as well, but I think .44cu with some poly fill should be fine.

I honestly had no idea the amp i purchased was this small  It is a mtx td500.1d, the very limited reviews i find on it are good. The 2- 8" subs i will be running are 200w max and 100w rms, so that would be a combined 400w max, being this amp is a 500w I think it should be fine. The subs are 4ohm svc and I will be running them parallel for a final load of 2ohms.

Kickers mounted, amp fit perfectly in storage area. Now to setup my new deck and adjust gain. ujyzu7at_4a9127b18378debb18e267b530d046ba3faa2b59.jpgjyta6yhu_f2d96967e51a04a3774f1ef0bcebe8065b2993dc.jpg
