    lol I'm sure I can work something out

    In short, yes same material and just as durable. But here is some more info;

    This picture is comparing two OEM switches. A START button, and DIFF lock.
    [IMG]

    They both have the same appearance eternally, and serve the same purpose(tactile push button with illuminated text) But are made completely different.

    The START button is actually a TWO different colored plastics injection molded together(main section is black plastic, then the WORDS get injected with white plastic all at once)
    The DIFF Lock switch is made completely out of white plastic. Then It gets the painted treatment and finally the logo laser etched off to reveal the raw plastic underneath.

    The backside shows this more in detail;
    [IMG]

    The issue with making my START button like OEM is a the dual injection plastic, No to mention I would have to make a whole NEW mold each time we want to change the TEXT. Not cost effective, and the price for the button would be much higher.
    The DIFF lock is how mine will be made. Molded white plastic, painted and laser engraved. This is the same way 99% of switch company's do it (CH4X4, ARB, CARLING, ETC) It will be JUST as durable as OEM and I have a ton more options when it comes to custom engraved words.
    Hope this helps!

    Red Start/Stop for sure.

    And please make one of these for the 2wd/4wd select button, I really miss that truck!!:pout:

    Do you think they make the "Start" button using the two part mold because it gets more abrasion from being pushed every time, vs the diff lock that rarely gets pushed? I doubt the painted version would have any problem, as long as people keep their nails trimmed, but I'm just curious why Toyota would go that route.

    Yeah, and it would help me not accidentally put it into 4wd whenever I feel hot!:rolleyes: But seriously, a small slip on cover version that looked like the old hub lock would be neat.

    That may be, but MANY other switches in the interior (A/C button, defrost, steering wheel buttons) are produced the same way as the diff lock. Sometimes Toyota just does weird things/ Maybe after 10+ years of constant pushing you might see some wear. But if the case ever arises, I'll just send a new one:)

    I know you'd take care of anyone complaining... I personally would tell someone after 10 years, "quit being a cheap ass and buy another one"... but that's why you run a successful business and I work for one.
