I don't think those look that bad. I think a good coat of paint would do the trick.

Don't paint them on the truck if you are using rustoleum. The overspray on those cans can cover over 4 feet. I have my basement floor as proof. There's green and red paint overspray all over the concrete floor from when I refinished my coleman duel fuel stove. (off topic but, damn things 40 years old now and it's only the first time it needed to be refinished). Also if you take it off the truck, you can lay it flat so you minimize vertical paint drip from the paint.

I second the index card trick. helped a buddy paint his. Took off one wheel at a time, sprayed it and put it back on. We saw the trick on a peelable paint tip site. Only thing was, on two of his tires, the index cards didn't go in well, so we just aired down to about 10 psi so we could push the tire in a bit to squeeze the cards in. We didn't use plastidip but enamel. After the first two wheels, we learned a trick. You don't want to take it out too soon (first wheel), but it you wait too long, the paint sticks a little to the edge of the card and some paint comes off the wheel(second wheel). First timer mistakes. Rubbing crayon on the card made it easy for the last 2 wheels since the paint didn't stick as much to it.

I think dark grey would look real nice. We washed it, rough it up with a drill bit brass cup wire wheel thing (cheap, $3.00 ones ), wiped it down with rubbing alcohol, wiped it off with distilled water again then we sprayed it. The wipe down with distilled water was probably overboard but he wanted to, just to be sure all residue was off. the coarse wire wheel didn't work as well as the softer one. The prep sounds like a lot but it only took us about 15-20 minutes of prep per wheel. The prep was worth it. It took us about 4 hours total to prep and paint them. We did use a hair dryer to speed up the dry time a bit, just enough to get it on the car again. Gotta say though, not sure how long it would take the paint to cure since it's already snowing there.

Lol I concur unfortunately. Painted my sliders on my garage floor with rustoleum, thought that the cardboard I was using was big enough to cover it and when I took it off I had a ton of overspray on the floor that I had no idea was there until I was done.

I like the look of steelies, just not a fan of the flat grey that these ones came in. When I ordered them I assumed I would of just received generic black ones, but like the great Slammin Salmon once taught me "Whenever you assume, you make an asshole out of yourself."

Thank you, I wouldn't of thought about it until after the fact like I did when I switched to my winter tires and realized the nuts that came off my stock rims are wayyy to long lol

No you're right about the tires not filling the wheel well that well, for some reason they recommend 16" instead of 17" for winter tires. Feel like I'm riding on hockey pucks now. (Hockey....I bet you can tell I'm Canadian now eh?)

I'm thinking I might try white 1st and if I don't like it it's a lot easier doing black over white then vise versa
