    3/16 is plenty if you look at the frame it bolts to

    That true!
    But since I’ll be getting scrap from the welders across the way, I’ll be kind of limited to whatever they have. I’m noob AF with metal and steel fab so I was just trying to get an idea of what thickness I should ask them for. That’s why I’m going to tackle this bumper. I need to get the practice of bead laying in. All I’ve been doing is welding random pieces of metal together.

    3/16 is ~1.75x the thickness of the frame

    what method did you use to cut out your holes for the hitch receiver and the hook loops, or whatever those are called? just carefully with a cutoff wheel? I have metal blades for my jigsaw, but ive never used the jig on metal before. I was just gonna use my skills with a cutoff wheel and a hack saw:sawzall:

    1/8 is 0.125 x 1.75=0.2187
    0.2187=7/32 which is 1/32 less than 1/4

    7/64 is 0.1093 x 1.75=0.1914
    0.1914 is right between 3/16 and 13/64

    so if the frame is 1/8=0.125
    0.125 x 1.5 = 0.1875 or 3/16ths

    :thumbsup:

    I had someone plasma cut the holes on mine... it could be a heck of a lot of work to get clean cuts with a cutoff wheel and a hack saw. Might be worth it to check out a weld shop for that.
