cut mine like this. have the mbrp cat back setup which came with the pickup. i don't notice and fumes or extra drone the mbrp is not the quietest though lol. I had to cut mine to fit my 285/70/17 in the spare tire space and i had to hammer the tabs where the spare tire goes open and drop the air pressure down to 13psi.

    Enough for now
I need to get around to making me spare fit there. 255/85/17 will take some modifications I reckon

Again, thanks for all the replies.
I am seriously thinking about this, but might have to wait a bit. Might mull it over a bit more.

Indeed, there is a cool thread somewhere on TW I'm going to replicate, about removing the spare tire carrier from the underside of the truck and re-drilling the holes to accommodate a 275/70.

Instead of cutting it above the axle, I cut mine off behind the last hanger and put a downspout tip on it. Works great and clears the spare- puts the exhaust outlet further back so there are no fumes. Makes it useful too as I scrape my rear end occasionally on ruts and other obstacles like boulders when I drive up and over them, especially on that right rear wheel.IMG_1252.jpg

    Well, No turning back now.
I don't handle peer pressure all that well. :D
This is perfect. I'm not catching this drone everyone speaks of. With stock muffler and 2.5" pipe this is about as good as it gets without getting loud. I should add it's a resonator tip.
Not much difference in noise which I like. I'm telling ya, getting rid of those 2 extra bends opens it up.

I used this thread to relocate the spare tire chain. You are just drilling a couple of new holes and using the existing 2 holes closest to the rear. It works pretty darn good and you don't have to yank on the tire while pulling it up. I used a step bit:thumbsup:

    Thanks, that's it!!

I'm definitely doing that. Seems way easier than fighting to get a 285/70 under there.

Good beer isn't sold by the case.

Cut Mine never looked back. Unless your dog or whoever is sitting in the bed stationary I don’t see any issues. If you post up and sit for extended periods with the vehicle on then the game changes.

I did the axle dump on both the stock exhaust and the URD Spec-U exhaust and there was 0 increase of drone with either system.

Doesn’t come in cases? Got a case of this as a XMas gift from my boss once- it was the best darn case of beer I ever had. Tried to get more a while back and it goes for like $20/bottle if you can find it.

I was just kidding about the TRD tip- just haven’t seen one mounted like that. Can you actually see it? I did sell mine for $50 after my tailpipe bob and got some “camping supplies” and bought my $7 tip at a autoparts place…

Cut mine in August 2020 and haven't looked back. Chopped it right at the muffler and then added a downward tip. Easy peasy.

Haha. I haven't had a beer/drink in 12yrs. Just bustin' balls, too, brother. All in good fun. Thanks for not being sensitive. lol
12yrs ago I was right. Good beer did not come in cases. heh
The tip is me playing around with parts.
    No, you don't see it.
I was reading resonator tips will eliminate any high tones from the exhaust.
    Not looking for loud.
