Had a small local shop install 5100s/2885s and a Headstrong 3 leaf add a leaf for me recently. When I picked it up the lady at the desk said the guy had to cut the springs to install the add a leaf, but he was out doing a test drive so I wasn't able to ask him about it. Gonna call later today and ask if he can clarify. Not knowing how to install the add a leaf kit myself, should any part of that process entail cutting the existing leaf pack?

Maybe they had to cut off the old bolts? If you live in the rust belt, it doesn't take much.

I'm in Ohio but the truck is less than a year old so I'd doubt so.

When I had a add a leaf installed they had to cut the shackles (if that's the correct term) that held the leaf pack together towards the rear of the leaf pack

Don't forget that it is a Toyota which will rust in the desert.

You have to cut the bracket that’s wrapped around the leaves for for protection on the newer leaf packs to get the 3 leaf AAL installed properly

I was thinking it was the spring retention clips. Front desk FTW!
