Looking for some updated opinions on a roof rack install. 2023

    1. Should I cut them in 3 pieces?

    2. Should I snip the metal and drill aligned holes?

    3. Should I just remove entirely and install the rack without?

    4. Option 4, there is something I don't know about to solve this.

OEM strips are costly, and I know I have to silicon it ( or if you have a better way)

If I remove it, what is best to get everything leak proof.

Aftermarket solutions anyone has seen and or any best practice solutions that's proven?

    Cheers

For clarity "If I remove it, what is best to get everything leak proof." I meant after, to fill the holes if I removed the rack.

Remove, install rack. Don't use silicone. Use Vulcan caulk, or Dap gutter and flashing sealant. Silicone breaks down after time. Cut straps and reinstall using 3m double-sided tape.
