This weekend we were driving down the rather benign Padre Island National Seashore beach near Corpus Christi, and all of a sudden my dash starts complaining "Blind Spot Monitor not available". After a few beeps I turned the button off, cycled it a few times but same result so I left it off and moved on with life. I only have 10,000 miles so I'll be due another complementary service soon, I figured I'll just let them know about the issue. I don't remember running over any logs or anything??

Then today my 2yr old wants to play in the back of the truck, so I put him up, grab a beer and notice that only one of my LED bed lights are working (passenger is out). I grabbed a screwdriver and took it out to investigate and it comes all the way out. LED light and BSM wires are cut. I can't find any other signs of damage and there is a heavier bundle along with those two that is unscathed...now as I type it has occurred to me that I don't know if the wires which were cut are indeed BSM wires.

I crimped all the wires back together, 2 wires (red & black) for the LED light and 3 wires (blue, white & white w/ black stripe) for what until now, I have assumed was the BSM.

LED light is fixed but the BSM warning is still coming on. Same result. So a couple questions:

    1) Can anyone confirm if those are BSM wires and not something else that I just haven't noticed that isn't working? I've just gone to check my lights and they are all working now, which of course does not tell me anything about before I started messing with stuff.

    2) Would that be covered under warranty if the wires were cut and I have clearly been working on it myself?

    1) I have no idea, someone would be able to provide a wiring diagram.

    2) Giving you the benefit of the doubt.. that looks real suspicious. I doubt the dealer would warranty that especially if you've been wrenching back there yourself. I would take it to the dealer to confirm sabotage or any other plausible explanation and file a claim through insurance. YMMV, good luck.

Do you have any of the following

Aftermarket suspension (looks like it in the picture) or lifting kit?
    Aftermarket bumper?

Any work done to the rear of the truck?

My guess would be whoever installed the suspension is responsible for the damaged wires.

have you checked your fuses? It's possible when the wires were severed it shorted out and could have blown the BSM fuse as well.
