I located a factory trifold hard to cover for my 2020 short bed. The seller does not have the bed rail caps with the cut outs. The bed rail caps on my truck are not cut for the factory cover. Is it possible to simply trim my factory bed rail covers to allow the installation of the trifold factory tonneau cover on my truck? Has anyone done this?

I'm sure there is a cutting template out there somewhere. But since the OEM cover was a port installed item (I think), I have no idea who you would ask for one. Worst case is find someone with this cover and use their caps as templates.

PS: You will love the OEM cover, it is a beast!

The previous owner of mine did the cuts himself, we swapped each other's bed rail caps when I bought it from him.

I imagine you can just line up the holes and bracket and cut away.

Make sure that you have the six tonneau latch studs that bolt into the cutout areas and the tonneau holder that bolts to the front bed rail. These are expensive dealer only items.

I did it, just looked at pictures of the oem cutout, and used a razor knife, they are very easy to cut.

    Found a picture.

Have you thought of trying to swap your uncut ones for factory cut ones???

Seems to be a somewhat common request on here - both ways - cut for uncut and uncut for cut ones.

Maybe look under or post under the Buy, Sell, Trade thread???

I saved my cut rails when I recently switched from the OEM tri fold to a Leer quad folding cover. I sourced uncut bed rail caps so I have the complete set of cut bed rail caps and OEM hardware (minus a center post piece p/n 64933-04010 that broke a few months ago and I’m currently waiting on delivery on a new one from a SE Toyota dealer). I figured I could bundle these to make install easier on someone or possibly sell with my beat up Toyota cover I took off if someone wants to pay more for the complete setup. I haven’t decided how to price it separately but if anyone’s interested, I have it. I’m in SoCal 92058.
