So I know that it is somewhat common to cut normal fenders to make more room for larger tires and just getting them out of the way for rock crawling, my question is if anyone has done this to fiberglass fenders, or if there are any glaring issues with doing this?

Just take your time and mark lines you're making to cut with tape. If you're getting rid of rounded lips which add strength make some mounts to hold the panels if you don't want them loosey goosey in the wind on the freeway etc.

thanks, im looking around out of curiosity more than anything with things like the rclt maybe coming to market if something like this could help or even just make 37s possible with a lot of trimming of things like the body mount and pushing the wheel as far forward as possible with a tc lt.

That will be slightly easier since you'll receive an extra inch of body lift over 2nd gens. 37's have been done with stock arms - it just requires removing the coilover and seeing where you need to cut / tub at full bump / full lock on each side.

Check these out. I mounted a set to a third gen on 35’s a few months ago. Be pretty simple to recreate too if you weren’t looking to spend the cash on the kit. But like @Dalandser said, cycle the suspension bump to strap and lock to lock and cut away. 35’s don’t take too much trimming if you’re ok with the inner fender self clearancing. 37’s are another story lol

ive seen those around and have been thinking about them, im gonna rip out the fender liner either way, and the 37s are a far out dream at this point since i still need to snag some fiberglass and an lt kit and maybe some new hubs, but by the time i get there ill already be looking for 40s because why not?

something like this for the cab mount, an LT kit aligned with plenty of castor, fiberglass fenders, bending down the pinch weld, and taking a hammer to the inner fender and you’ll likely clear the 35’s pretty well. I only rubbed the top of my inner fenders at full bump on my 35’s and after doing some tubbing for 37’s...I’d just live with the little bit of rubbing. Working and welding with that thin sheet metal is a royal pain in the butt.

And you don’t need to go with crazy wide 6” fenders. I did all this and am still running my 3” trailer products fenders. Granted I did have to trim them for the 37’s, they cleared the 35’s with my dirt king +3.5 kit just fine

yup, most of this is gonna get done this next week or so but the big ticket stuff is gonna be a bit longer in the future, yea im not a fan of the +6 fenders and so i asked this to see if i would be able to trim some +3 in fenders to get it to work

I don’t even think you’ll need to trim the +3” fenders
