    what are those?
So I spent too much money lately on the truck and decided I will hold off on a new rear bumper for next year.

I got a set of cheap flush mount pods that I want to cut into my stock rear bumper and run to its own switch in the cab to tide me over its got a dent from when I bought it anyhow so not worried about resale.

I have limited tools while I am living with my girlfriend for the time being during covid, was wondering what the best tool would be to cut into the rear steel bumper for the cutout. I will have to rent/buy/borrow something I only have the basics on hand or no tools with a cord I should say.

Anyone done this with success and if so what did you use to cut into the bumper?

The metal of the stock bumper is thin and chincy I would make a template then drill the mount holes first then drill the main opening corners stepping up to a 1/2" then use a jig saw to cut the main opening and clean up with a die grinder as necessary.

That's what I did with my 3/16 plate rear, would be dumby easy on the stock bumper.

Exactly what I did on my 07 Taco and 08 Tundra. Except I did the edge cleanup with a file.

I did the same. Drilled holes in all four corners and used a dremel/angle grinder to cut it out. Pretty straightforward. Just look behind where you’re planning to cut so you don’t add a hole where there’s bracing or wires for your tow harness.

Also not a bad idea to cover larger area in painters tape to protect the finish some.
