Ok a question for those who know.

I have a 3/2 leveling kit on my truck. Also a diff drop. Thinking about going down to 2 when I upgrade to Bilstein coilovers and shocks. But my cv angle doesn’t seem all that bad. Maybe stay with a 3 inch lift when I upgrade? What you guys think?

Can’t really see the inside boots, as long as the fins are not touching, you’re OK !

Looking at your pictures, that looks pretty bad to me.

3" front lift on Toyota IFS is excessive.

So…I take it your truck is not lifted? I plan to drop to 2” with the Billstein upgrade.

It is. I love the functionality and looks.

I went with 2" all around lift, she settled at 1.75" in front due to sliders, winch and front bumper.

2" is max unless you want to spend thousands on mid/long travel suspension if you want good performance that is.

Inner boot is rubbing on itself at least on the passenger side
You can try the boot slide, or just go down a bit

Yeah plan to do the same. If you get a chance, could you take a pic of your CV’s? I would like to see how much a difference there is. Thanks.

Awesome! Thanks. Also, was wondering what brand suspension you went with. You mentioned a .25 droop in the front due to added weight. I’m considering the Billstein 6112’s to avoid this. Will be adding a steel bumper and winch as well.

~2" and no diff drop seems to be considered the ideal maximum lift for IFS on 3rd gens to balance CV angles / boots and other suspension factors, from what I can tell across casual research so far. 2-2.5" front has been fine for me to avoid binding in joints or rubbing boot fins during normal driving so far. Suspension height will settle out over time from the initial height after install too, mine was originally closer to 3" at first but now is where it should be.

    There she is:

CV angles taco1.jpg CV angles taco.jpg

Like i mentioned earlier, they are pretty much flat.

I went with 2" all around lift. OME 2887 springs, nitrochargers soft valved shocks, medium dobinsons leafs (ARV dakars tend to squeak) Love this lift.

Visually inspecting the cv shaft angle and cv boots is not what you should be worrying about. What’s more important is:

    - How much down travel (aka droop) you have? I’m guessing you have next to none.

    Consequence: harsh ride

    - Is anything (ball joints, cv joints, uca, etc) binding at full droop? I’m guessing your UCA contacts your coil spring.

Consequence: limited down travel, unnecessary stress on coil spring, uca, ball joints, risk of broken cv joint

    - Does your shock bottom out before that bump stop? I’m guessing the answer is yes.

Consequence: destroyed shock if you ever bottom out

Thanks! Yeah big difference here. Definitely dropping to 2”. So at 2, do you still need extended bump stops?
