Cv axel leak after 3" spacer lift problem

    Hey guys so I recently installed a 3" spacer on my 2017 Tacoma and now I see a bunch of grease behind my rotor and on my mudguards and I have no idea if I need to replace my CV axle or it may be something else...r u guys familiar with this issue?20200720_164838.jpg 20200720_164844.jpg 20200720_164903.jpg

    Yup cv grease. Might have punctured when installing lift. If you replace, buy refurb oem. Dont buy parts store cvs.

    you could reboot but outer is a pita

    I had that happen on a Chevy 2500 once after putting on a leveling kit. My boots had more of an angle than yours though. those don't look to be in a bind. Did you pinch or stab the boot or mis-lick it with a BFH trying to get your spacers in?

    Yeah boot is bad. You can do it for $20, but you need the clamp tool. Worth it to buy one for a few bucks.

    The shop that did it probably tore it during the install....or it’s just a coincidence. I highly doubt that coincidence is the case. They may play dumb, but that’s another advantage of doing your own work.

    You could get the shop to fix it, but I've done several of these and I agree with just buying a refurbished half axle. Anyway, you can also get away with not doing anything for a long time until you start hearing the clicking noise hahaha.

    A shop did the lift and it was an old friend ... i was kinda in a rush to fix it cuz am taking my family camping this Thursday.. i think if it makes it this weekend I'll order a boot replacement and have a shop re boot my axle.. ill post a pic of the temporary repair I did.. i filled the boot with Molly grease and some kind of plastic epoxy thats super tough
