I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma with a 4 inch RC lift, I keep having CV axle boot failures. Has anyone tried the Trakmotive extended travel CV axles?

Welcome to TW. Do you have any pics of your suspension and CV angles? Something from the front. If you're constantly tearing boots, your angles are probably bad and the root cause should be addressed.

Is the boot touching the cv housing? Vibration, heat?

Welcome to TW! I’ve had a Rough Country drop bracket 4 inch lift on my truck for 6 years now and have never had a torn boot, never had to replace a u-joint or wheel bearing or cv joint. If by chance, your truck was lifted 4 inches without a d/b then you’ll have many issues including torn boots.

A more zoomed out one showing the coilover and what’s on top of it, if anything. I don’t see a drop bracket so you may just have way too much lift, which is why your boots are tearing so often.

Sorry I'm not very good at this This is my first time being a forum member kind of sounds like I might have to install a differential drop kit maybe? How hard is it to put a drop bracket in?

You’re good man, we all start somewhere. You don’t have a drop bracket lift, you just have too much “normal” lift. Your CV’s, control arms, tie rods, etc are at too steep of an angle and that’s why you’re blowing through boots. Basically, you need to lower your front lift a little bit.

I want to see a picture of the top of the coilover to see if you have a spacer. If so, it will be easy to just remove it which would lower your lift a little. Or, your coilovers are adjustable. You need to disassemble the coil from the shock and lower the bottom perch mount, but it is doable.

All of this is kind of a pain in the ass but it’s the root of your problem.

Those are Bilsteins 5100s or 6112s. Get rid of any top strut spacer in there and adjust only the spring seat on the shock for height. You'll be good.

    I don't see a spacer but I don't directly know what I'm looking for either.17089009619053222017971600001353.jpg

Also, perhaps too long a spring was installed. In any case, both need to come out as soon as possible and drop it to 3" lift at maximum.

Thanks, just went to the local Sport Truck Specialties shop and thier going to lower the shocks and install a differential drop kit which they said would give me a 3 inch lift, any cons to dropping the diff. 3/4 of an inch? Wish I could do it myself but don't currently have a garage or the proper tools to do it.

    To come!!
I have the 3.5” RC lift, and my passenger cv joint binds at full droop, even with the diff drop that came with my lift. But have not torn any boots as of yet. (Been on for over a year and about 8k miles) I ordered a larger diff drop kit, see what happens.
Curious tho do you get any binding at full droop?
With that much angle do you get any shakes when hitting bumps? Or does it drive normal?

Definitely has a stiff ride and it does make noises at certain points so it probably does bind and does kind of shake when you hit the rough spots
