Are you positive that the axle is seated into the diff all the way? When I did mine, I noticed it was a son of a bitch to get those things to seat all the way.

Yeah the cv looks like it is seated properly so it has to be the seal leaking. Not sure how replacing the seal itself goes, but the cv's aren't too bad to pull.

Mmm hmmm mmm hmmm. Definitely a seal, not hard to do, just time consuming to get it done right. You have to remove th whole cv joint out then the seal and make sure its cleaned out before you put the new seal in, otherwise you'll get a leak again.

Humm. Well if I grad the axle it moves around a lot! Like its the bearing. I seem where some guys were saying there is a needle bearing on it? And is that pressed on? Is that the only bearing I would have to change or is there another one in there?

Depends on how much play there is. There is quite a bit of play in them normally. Does the leaking one seem to have significantly more play than the other? I had a friend here have to replace a seal because it was leaking like yours and the leaking one had more play in it than the non-leaking one, but not significantly more, but it did seem like it was more than it should have had. I believe the bad seal allows for a little more play on top of the normal play that it does have.

I don't know enough about the bearing in there to say whether or not you might need a new one. Sorry.

Drivers and Passenger side of my front diff were leaking after I went mudding in a sandy area and all I had to do was clean the seals and my axles and its been 3 months with no problems. My point is.. is your axle clean and its allowing the seal to seat properly? or maybe you damaged the seal installing it?
    Good luck

I have never replaced anything on this truck yet. Just bought it. The cv axle is very loose and its leaking. It's loose where it goes into the diff. It doesn't look like anyone ever replaced anything yet. Truck has 117000 miles on it.
