So I'm putting in a rebuilt Toyota cv axle
Not sure if its in all the way
I'm having trouble getting it in its about a 1/4" out
Can anyone suggest any way to get it in all the way.
Giving up for tonight will try again tomorrow

I can't tell from the pic if it's all the way in. But, if it's not, use a pry bar. Put the prying end into one of those notches in the CV shaft shown in your pic.

Take a hammer and hit the other end of the pry bar. Obviously, you only need enough force to compress that retaining ring and get it into it's groove.

This is also the best method I've found to remove the CV shafts.

    Good luck!

Thanks but I should have explained better
trying to get the shaft back in
still have a small gap between the diff and the axle
when do I know if the c clip is in all the way

seems like its in but theirs an 1/8 gap not the same as the other side
    should they match?
The pic is the new shaft in place
Does it look in all the way?
