My torque wrench exploded when trying to set the big axle nut torque,,so I just rattled it down with my 1/2 drive air gun (150lbs) until the nut quit turning/tightening(dry threads). So far so good.

They are probably dipping those axle ends in some secret sauce during the rebuild, causing fitment probs. From Chewie's experience, it seems so. They are trying to make a nice rebuild,,but they are skipping/skimping the crucial last inspection and there allowed variance. A few returns of those and they will probably smarten up again. One of the reasons they are cheaper than OEM.

    Cheap ain't good,,and good ain't cheap!

Mine's 1st gen but thanks for the info. I didn't do the boot slide mod but may need to. I'm going to put some miles on them and see how they look.

02 Tacoma, fixed with curse words.

What did they blow on their front diff and what type of locker? The 7.5" front end is a high pinion and pretty close in strength (ring gear wise) to a mini truck lp8 or lpd44 8" ring gear.

Interesting concept, although in the 9 years ive been wheeling my taco (6 with a crawler) i've only broken 1 cv and i sheared it off right where it goes into the diff and it was the original cv that came with the truck.

To add to the topic, try to find OEM cvs with the green labels, those last longer than the parts store ones.
