    PSU Taco85,

    Thank you!

I changed the diff fluid. It was dark and smelly. Used 75w90. Turning the axle I dont't see any fluid. $7.00 part and I know how to do it now.... Priceless.

I bought the seal puller. $16.00 at napa. I forgot to look at how deep the seal was seated, so I just pushed it flushish to the diff.

That thing was a bear to get out with pliers / screwdriver. What puller did you get, pic?

I used the harbor freight seal race tool set worked nice for install but I did end up pushing it in beyond the edge of the diff. I saw ther was a positive stop before the needle bearing so figured it was supposed to go up against it. I read elsewhere thst driver side wasn't sensitive to seating depth so hope that is true.

The puller was like a thin hammer with one tooth sticking out both sides. Google seal puller. Used the larger end and careful not to scrape diff housing. If you do, use some 600 grit to smooth any scratch. I used a huge $28 socket that fit over the lip of the seal and greased the seal. Hammered it in. I made it flush with the housing. If it leaks I am betting i can get it done in an hour. Took me 3 just to get the axle out!

    You and me both.
I messed up my seal installing it pretty bad. Waiting on 2 more to come in (just in case). I like the socket idea, probably going to try that this time along with some grease.

The CV axle takes no more than 20 minutes to replace. Are you talking about the rear axle seal?

If you unbolt the bottom ball joint, you can pull the spindle out of the way with the axle shaft still attached to the hub. You don't have to undo the shaft from the hub.
That will save you some time and headache.

I believe thats the case as well. Either seemed to work on either side for me so whichever you can find should work

Am I having this same issue? Sure seems like it. No idea why it rotated when it uploaded. Sorry about that.
