Lol. "I put a bunch of non-factory mods on my new truck, which caused a CV failure. Stupid Toyota won't warranty it!"

If the crankcase is damaged, the block is damaged, no?
These are one piece aren't they?

I’d put the truck back to stock and go to another dealer!

That doesn’t make sense Bob, you need to talk to a manager, escalate the issue. Call corporate, forget this lawyer stuff until you have to. That’s not normal wear and tear CV joint blew apart, not like it’s a torn boot.

sounds like it may be related to the lift as others are stating…
If that’s the case, have Toyota spell it out on paper, and try to get reimbursement from icon…
All these big companies have their own insurance policies for situations like this…
Versus you taking a hit on your own insurance…
That’s my two cents, by the way Tacoma transmissions are blowing up…:D

Makes me sick looking at it!! Uughh! I’ve jacked stuff up before and that sandwich has an awful bad aftertaste!

Gotta ask when you installed the icon lift did measure the lift before and after? 2 out of the 3 I’ve installed came preset at specific lift height. Both that were pre set were not even close! So possibly, they said it was set at 2.5, but could have easily been 3.5?

Sadly this is why the TRD lift comes with CV axles now for the Tundra and expect it for the Tacoma.

I don’t know what’s worse, the 4th gen being a pos and Toyota fucking this poor guy over or all the 4th gen nut sack riders in blind denial that the 4th gen is a pos so they’re blaming the op

or you can do the right thing if you’re into that. Sucks in the short term, great in the long term.

no I just thought of that when I saw this piece of shit T 100 drive down the interstate held together by hopes and dreams. I know between him and his truck bed full of stolen Milwaukee batteries and sawed off catalytic converters that guy definitely is not buying a fourth gen after reading this forum.

Imagine filling an entire shopping cart full of stolen shit and then you run out to your 4g Tacoma and all of a sudden your CV axle is broken and you can't get away from home depot.

Perfect example of how modifications can void your warranty.

Trying another dealer most likely won't help. Due to the cost of the repair Toyota will ask for a ton of info when submitting a warranty claim, including pictures of the truck, suspension etc.

Everyone who has a 4th gen, take a mental note that these trucks do not like to be lifted apparently.

call icon and ask them for help.. this is no different then asking toyota to warranty it. we all know that axles do not just pop out on stock height trucks. so their lift kit that they so masterfully designed most likely caused it.

Front diff drop bracket is included in Icon's 250 land cruiser version of this kit.
It's required (but not included) for 4WD 4G Tacos.

Did the OP buy it and install it?

Until this question is answered, I'm going to assume this isn't a Toyota problem. And it isn't an Icon problem.

How is it a pos? The combination of a (non Toyota) lift overextending the cv and cranking the steering wheel and giving it gas popped out the cv. Also, the lift installed requires a diff drop which we do not know if it was installed.

Clearly you did not read all the followup info the OP provided and how this is not Toyotas fault.
