    I have a three inch lift on my 2005 Tacoma with 32 inch tires. My cv angles aren’t the best and I have gone through two pairs in under year of ownership. I’ve only put around 5,000 miles on my truck (yes I hardly drive it). I ordered a front diff drop and want to see if it’d help. I don’t off-road it at all, I just like the look and function of the truck. Is this potential to cause extra harm? Or is it fine since my truck is only on the road.

    higher angle boots? Yes
    3" lift, no
    diff drop, no
    solid axle swap, maybe. Or portals. Fabbed LCA's. RCLT.

    You have to drop the front diff quite a bit to make any meaningful impact in CV angle. Probably not going to solve your issue.
    3" lift is very excessive for 32" tires since they fit under stock suspension. If you are on adjustable coil overs you'd be better off dropping it down under 2", that will also prolong the needle bearing.
    Another option would be to get boots designed for higher angles so they aren't rubbing.

    @HWI
    Are these coils adjustable? I know nothing about suspension. I had it in the shop last week and they told me they couldn’t adjust them. But isn’t that black block at the top a spacer? Is that possible to have removed to drop the ride? Thanks.

    Looks like the bottom collar is where the adjustment Is made on those. Is there a piece on top of that hockey puck, I can't tell from the picture.

    They are adjustable. The collar on the bottom rotates to add or remove spring tension. Youll want to rotate it counter clockwise to remove spring tension/lift. I had that lift when i first started. It sucks in my opinion. Id take a spring compressor to the coil though to make it easier to adjust.

    OP post a picture from the front of your cv angles. Plenty of people on here have 3 inch lifts.

    @Brian422
    So basically the shop I took it to didn’t see that or didn’t know how to adjust them. I could take it to a different shop and see if they’ll adjust. I don’t wanna do it myself and mess it up. I just need the ride to be a bit smoother. It’s so rough I can hardly drive it on normal roads the whole truck moves.

    @ace96 ill post a front view of the axles tomorrow. I ordered the diff drop but havnt put it on yet. Not worried about it lower the diff since I don’t do any intense off-roading.

    Those boots look terrible. You could cut off the metal clips that hold the small end of the boot in place. Stretch the boot lengthwise so that it is onto the shaft part of the CV and use a big zap or hose clamp to hold it in place. Then the fins won't rub and wear out as quickly.

    Those are adjustable. Threading the collar at the bottom of the spring down will reduce the lift. The black portion at the top of the spring looks to be part of the top hat and not a coil spacer, but I could be wrong, it's a little difficult to tell from the angle of the picture.

    That CV angle is not good, those boots are not going to last long rubbing like that.

    I’ve gone through two sets in about a year. Only put around 5,000 on the truck. It sucks that why I’m trying to find the best solution so the boots last.

    Might be easier to just add a diff drop which you could in your driveway with basic tools

    I plan on it. I got the kit already. Do you guys have any idea how much it would cost to lower my coils half an inch? Can’t imagine it’d be more than a 100 or 200 right? I’ll have to call around in a couple days. I’m out of town atm.

    Since you don’t drive much, install the diff drop and see where that gets you. The other item is to measure from the center of the hub to bottom of the fender. It’s possible you have more than 3 inches of lift.

    i measured from the outside center of my wheel cap to the bottom of my fender it it came out to be a little more than 24 inches. That seems almost more than a 3 inch lift right? Isn’t stock supposed to be 20 to 20 1/2 inches?

    Also update: I completely disregarded ever checking to see if a diff drop was already installed and one already is. Guess my only option is to take it to a shop that will lower the front an inch or so.

    That's pretty high. It looks like you have a spacer lift on top of those coilovers but it's hard to tell. If you do have an extra spacer up top I'd start by removing it.

    For reference, I'm about 20.5" from the bottom of the fender to the center of the hub up front and I run 285/75/16s.
