does anyone know if the cv's from a 3rd gen will work in a second gen?

I would think so. I don't think they changed any part of the differential or CV's.

FWIW I went and typed in the part number for the 3rd gen CV axle shaft and found the part and the parts websites online say it'll fit the second gen years too. Has anyone confirmed this? I want to get a hold of some used CV's to disassemble and then use the outers to assemble onto a longer axle shaft for LT. More chances of finding used second gen CVs from people who do SAS than the 3rd gens

The amount of people who SAS is slim to none... most CVs come from wrecked trucks
