CV axles?

My issue has been boots, tore the inner boot just after a 3" lift. I would be interested in a better boot already installed on the half shaft. Remanufactured with better boots would be a possible way to keep the price down.

The angle on the inner boot is the problem. Breaking the shaft has not been a problem.

 

This thread was started back in March...I'm guessing Wheelers dropped the idea

 

dang! i'd really like a set of affordable cv's that can handle a bit more angle than the stock cv's. ...price must have been too high.

 

They probably felt there was not enough of us to justify the overhead, too bad for me

I would like to have more choice in CVs than Autozone, the dealer or me putting heavy boots over Autozones CVs.

 

what do you hate about your's?

 

i tear boots all the time, typically because i dont really do rocks, mostly mud and sticks and stuff, so higher angle joints, stock strength shaft with some thick boots would be extremely awesome. ive broken a few joints just from gettin them bound up and hammering on it to get out.

Yeah my boots shredded and threw grease all over... Just need a good boot... A better angle might help eliminate the traction control kicking on all the time on a sharp turn...

 

I WOULD DEFINATLY BUY STRONGER BOOTS!!

 

What concerns me about these super durable axles is what is the next weakest link up the food chain. I'd much rather bust an axle over the front diff. Besides, this is really about the boots, not the constant velocity joints inside the boots.

 

yeah but I really think their "Spherical Sealing" idea is ingenious. Also IIRC drew02 i believe tacomaoffroad.com had these shafts and didnt break anything on his second gen. But IDK your completely right I would rather replace these axles than something else

 

I'd be down for high angle boots with stock strength axles....if price is right, autozone replacements aren't that expensive if u turn in core. Wheelers u should hit up peeps TTORA, they wheel pretty hard and a lot of older tacos that prolly r in need.

 

Id be down for some stock strength and stock angles but with stronger boots. My passenger cv is rusted and will need replaceing soon enough..

Wheelers could you also make stronger boots for the steering rack??

that would be CLUTCH!!!
