Cardone is hit or miss. I wouldn't spend a dollar on them and take the time to put them on my truck (and then possibly break somewhere out in the woods).

If you're good with $325, OP, for replaced boots on your strong, quality OEM CV's with installation, I say go for it. It can be a messy job and if you haven't done it before, will take some time.

The price is to rebuild complete. Not just replace the boots. All new OEM CV joints. I do believe that is equivalent or dam near to, a new part. I suppose i could install it my self, but for what in the end is the same price. Ill let the professional do it. This shop has rebuild differentials for me before, they do great work.

The dealer wanted $750 per side to replace just the boots.

To remove, rebuild, reinstall the axle. I have to think that's at least a three hour job for him probably 2 day job for me. That sounds like reasonable shop rate to me...

Just keep the OEM axle and rebuild with OEM boot kits.

I really think Cardone is hit or miss. I also think it’s more hit than miss. People over hype OEM stuff on this forum A LOT. Some stuff you have to get OEM like fan motor because of the noise. But never had a ever had a problem with SKF bearings at work or at home. OP it’s up to you. My cardone has 50k with a lift and wheeling.

3 advance auto axles in 3 years with no wheeling. But this is more about boots. Still, the OEM boots have lasted me a long time too.

I got 145k miles outta stock boots - 90k miles of those were after the truck was lifted.

I just replaced the driver side inner with another oem boot. Did the slide mod, I expect to easily last the next 5 years.

    What exactly defines a "rebuilt"axle?

I just bought a used OEM shaft: $67.12 to my door in 2 days.
OEM boot kit: $36.81 plus tax.

I did the "boot slide mod" instead of going with SDHQ. OEM boots don't rub with a 2.5" lift. Get a 3 jaw puller if you it yourself. One of my tripod bearing was a PITA to get off.

I don’t know how you guys get this done so quick. Couldn’t get mine out for the life of me. Replaced the boot with it still on.

I don't take the outer end apart. Just remove the inner boot, remove the C-clip and use a brass or copper drift to knock the inner bearing off the splines and slide the outer boot right down and over.

Correction. You are right.......I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Yes. I don't use a puller though, I clamp the shaft and just use a brass or copper drift to drive the tripod (inner bearing end) off.

Any one have a link for the oem boot kit. Have cardone hd axles on my truck with about 12k on them. Driver side has a cracked boot as of this weekend. Guess it’s time to learn to rebuild them my self
