    Hi all,

I'm Chan, some of you know me as CVC Tuning.

The Goal: Full E85 3rd Gen Tacoma to match or exceed Supercharger performance gains on an N/A Engine at a fraction of the cost.

I had my mind on this idea for a while and wanted to get the marbles rolling by starting this thread. Pretty much starting from scratch with little information out there regarding E85 on the 3rd Gen. I'll be documenting the entire process here with all the love and frustration involved.

For the sake of having one thread, I'll be Including other parts of the build as well, not just E85 and tuning related material.

    Current set up:

2020 Tacoma Premium Off Road (turned into pro, haters gonna hate!)

    Engine:

Custom CVC Tuned for 91 Pump Gas
High Spark Japan Premium Coil Packs
    K&N Performance Intake (77-9039KP)
    OVT Catless Headers
    OEM TRD Pro Catback Exhaust

    Suspension/Wheels:
    Falken Wildpeak AT3W - 315/70/17
    Summit Offroad Dakar - 17x9 -25 offset
Aggressive Cab Mount Chop by Milogen Fabrications in Fremont, CA
    King Shocks 2.5L w/ Adjusters (lifted ~ 3.25" front, 2.75" rear)
    SPC UCA's (caster ~ -3.6 degrees)
    Deavers Stage II Leaf Packs

    Accessories:
    Sport Hood Swap =)
Baja S2 Pro Fog lights (retrofitted in OEM TRD Pro Rigid bezels)
Baja S2 Sport Ditch Lights w/ Low Profile Brackets
    Baja S2 Sport Chase Lights
    OEM TRD Pro Headlights
OEM TRD Pro Grill (w/ front camera mount)
    OEM TRD Pro Tailights
Meso Customs Stage 1 Tail Light Kit
RCI Engine + Trans Skid Plates
Prinsu Designs Roof Rack w/ Uptop AAP
Uptop Mid Height Bed Rack (w/ upgraded side armor)
Thule Tepui Kukenam 3 Ruggedized Roof Top Tent
    Midland Radio w/ Ghost Antenna

    Interior:
Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel from a local guy
    Various Meso Customs Blackout stuff
Meso Customs Shift Knob w/ ECT button
    Magnetic Phone Mount from Target

Will upload current pictures soon! =)

    What's next?
vF Tuner is coming out with proper gear lock features/tables so I'll be able to baseline my truck as is with some proper pulls once that's available. I have not been able to get the gear lock numbers to work for me. I've gotten numbers from other pro tuners who have created gearlock tunes to get the function, but has never properly worked for me. Current dyno results should be out shortly after that.

I'm going to be selling the K&N intake and build my own, increasing the MAF diameter and adjusting the scaling on the tune.

Heading to SoCal in the next few weeks to see Keith at Dirty Deeds in San Diego for a custom exhaust. We're going to straight pipe this sh*t

Feel free to reply to this thread with any of your thoughts! What do you guys want to see? How can we make this thread better or more interesting? All things considered, I'm open to feedback and your criticism!

So are you going to upgrade the fuel system to handle the corrosiveness of E85?

Yes, looking into using the AEM340 E100 rated fuel pump, but am currently trying to find out what kind of compatibility/fitment issues might arise without pulling out my fuel pump first. Already have the ethanol content gauge on the way. Once we get the fuel system set up, it should be* smooth sailing from there.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Is the plan to setup a purely custom fuel map that you'd load depending if you get e85 vs e10 or you're turning the taco into a purely e85 machine? I'm sure flex fuel vehicles have the separate alcohol content input into the ecm for proper afr. You can skip a bunch of steps and just drop a tundra flex fuel engine :burnrubber:. Good luck man, keep us posted.

Going to create our own custom CVC Tune dedicated for E80-E90 and maximize power and torque for a true E85 machine. Pretty excited, this thing is going to be a beast and pretty unique (for now). Camping trips are out of the picture for the taco now lol

This sounds like fun, good luck with it! FWIW, Toyota has 13:1 pistons available for these engines.
