I’ve purchased a CVT Mt Shasta secondhand. It’s definitely an older model and required a bit of work to fix up and for the most part functions fine.

One concern I have is that when the tent is flipped open, there’s a U-shaped slot that fits the two base pieces of the tent together (if you think of the tent being closed, it’d be the top piece fitting into a slot on the bottom piece once opened, if that makes sense).

When setting up the tent, it’s very tough (almost impossible) to get these slots flush with one another. When I was in the tent, they actually fully dislodged and I could see between the two base pieces. The tent held up and apart from them dislodging, I didn’t notice anything terribly concerning but I have yet to place myself, my wife, and two dogs in there.

I’ve checked to ensure nothing is blocking the slot or bent that could be causing this.

For those of you more experienced with RTTs, do you have any insight on this? Am I missing something? Does something need to be tightened/adjusted?

This is my first RTT so any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'd recommend sending CVT an email, they have awesome customer service.

    Also... pictures would help.

I've contacted CVT and was able to get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks!

Yeah we spent our first nights in it over the weekend - me, my wife, and 2 70lbs dogs. Couldn't believe how much space we had! And held up great after adjusting/tightening the bolts.
