CVyota's "gonna take a while" build

Andy - mine is chopped at the rear hanger, same as Nick. But it's blowing hot exhaust straight into my rear leaf shackle bushing.
I'm thinking about cutting at the same spot as yours, but am concerned about no hanger support after the muffler. Not an issue with your setup?

 

Sorry guys, I was out backpacking when these came in.

I seem to remember disassembling it, I didn't have to cut anything.

I have had no issue with the cut.

 

I was out in DV last weekend, went up Fish camp from the Panamint side, over to Trona. Really rough and rocky, but fun. Halfway up, my hood pops open and won't close! Seems the latch pin on the underside of the hood had 4 tears in the thin sheet metal. So no latching. In fact it looks as though the corner pins are the only thing holding it down. What finally made it pop open was one of the pins ripping out of the radiator support. I was pissed and didn't take pics. Had to use a gated hook and rope to get home.
Luckily, with @GHOST SHIP mad welding skills, I got it welded back in place, pics to follow.

 

Sergio ran out of gas, so he switched to wire, that and the tears in the thin sheet metal made it hard to weld. It isn't pretty but it is very strong

When you installed your shackle flip did you find any adverse effects like a diminished load capacity? A buddy here has a shackle flip and says when he did it he gained so much in wheel travel it was a huge benefit but even with dakars it killed his functionality as a truck and hauling capacity, How long of extended brake lines did you need with the shackle flip?

 

Wow, I misses that question Chris, sorry. I have been remiss in keeping up on my build page, truck has been sitting in the driveway, too much rain and then too hot in the desert and now we have construction on the house, I miss the dirt.

So to answer, no diminished load and the extended brake lines that are sold are more than enough.

 

What did happen was the battery computer died and took out the secondary battery, both have been replaced.

 

It sure would be nice if you'd get out there and have some adventures to post up. I don't follow many threads any more so something good to read would be nice. I did score a really good deal on a set of Icon 2.0's with RR a couple of weeks ago. Of course there was no mounting bracket for the resi's so I got to be creative.

Just an fyi, Nick. Got the truck smog thing done this month, no issues with the tail pipe.

Finally found a solution to the spare tire and sleeping in the back.
Voodoo has a 2" rise rail that gives me foot room and holds the tire. It will also be a place to put the water system.

 

That's funny I've just been thinking the last couple of days about designing a tire rack to store it in the same position. I'm thinking about fabbing a rack that'll attach to the 2 front bed bolts and the bed rails then the wheel bolts to it. How much does it block your vision in that position?

 

I haven't seen out the back window in years, I just got used to it.

 

I need a little more room in the back I can barely fit my trash cans in there. Short bed problems
