It should be, minor flooding and standing water is pretty common out there. The sand is just dense enough to hold surface water for a short time then it percs in. The flooded utilities is unusual, their on ground transformers are all mounted on short above ground pads to prevent this.

Good morning John, the rest of you fellas too.

NPS open Fort Pickens for day use starting today. Throwing gear in the truck now and me and Mike are headed down there. Hope to get some more shots of the Blue Angels today.

Good morning John and the rest of you guys too :hattip:

It was a long day at the fort yesterday, got stuck in afternoon traffic going home and didn’t get to the house until a little after 1800. They didn’t open the road into the park until 1100 yesterday due to standing water over the road, that put us too far from the air show practice to get any good photos. There was a large crowd, trying to get in to see the air show and I can understand NPS concerns about people trying to speed through 6” of water getting to the fort area, the road leading in is 7 miles long, that’s were all the flooding was. We'll go back and catch a practice in a couple of weeks.

Anyway, we finished up looking at some of the other coastal gun batteries that are out there. The park has the civil war fort and gun batteries from the late 1890s through 1940 out there too. We lucked out and saw them doing a demo and firing their small cannon and met the head Ranger out there. He had heard about us from other employees we had met over the past few weeks, apparently our questions were memorable lol. He talked to us for about 45 minutes. All in all it was a great day.

Now I’ve got to go turn the water sprinkler on under the truck to wash the saltwater spray off the frame before it rusts out on me. Here’s a few more teasers for you.
