I’ve never used a tenkara setup what weight leader do you use on one? It would worked have where I was the other day but there were several times when I had to give line and let the drag do its thing. I had at least 4 break me off. But you would have absolutely had the reach to get to them.

The rod uses a is a nylon level line or taper line as the “fly line”. These are generally sized to match the length of the rod, 11-15’, this is your casting length basically. A three to five foot 4X or 5X tippet is tied to the level line and then the fly is tied to the tippet. This is the “standard” setup for trout fishing. I really don’t know how this would work for the trout you were catching, it’s crappie and small bass down here in my blackwater swamps.

Good morning guys. It’s Wednesday so adventure day. Headed back to the woods to look for more sawmill ruins. Going to be a chilly one today, currently 34 with a high of 50.

All good Dave. Short answer, truck is still stock. Alaska didn’t happen yet due to economic and world events. Retirement got kind of hectic with twin grand babies too. I’ll get back to you later after todays adventure.

Good afternoon guys. Was a busy morning for me, hope it’s going well for you guys.

Yesterday was a success, we walked about 3 miles and found several locations of piers corresponding to different buildings on the site. Still need to go back and try for a few more locations. With what we found it gives is a pretty good idea of where things should be as far as the mill layout. Will try to get something written up for you.

These are piers from the main sawmill, probably bases for the main steam engine and support machinery.
