Btw, lights on the rig are looking good. Need to add a light bar on top of the cab now lol.

The first Toyota I fell in love with was an 80s like this, only it was my dads ranch truck and had a custom flatbed consisting of a 3/4” sheet of plywood framed with angle iron with stake pockets. We took that little truck everywhere on the ranch, went blasting through pastures, crawling up shale covered hills, splashing through the seasonal creeks we would have on the ranch. It was a great time. I loved that little truck and wish I could go back in time 20 some odd years and relive those days.

Sorry just now started on this thread lmao fellow trail limo owner here

Welcome to my thread. They were great little trucks and I do miss mine.

Fair warning, the thread is pretty weak on build and travels, I need to work on that. Enjoy what’s here.

That’s fine, I’ve had my truck for 2 years and have managed to only swap front bump stops, install 2” spacers up front (shit mod I know but cheap lift and was tired of scraping my skid plate) and new tires because she needed them lmao

    Howdy Blevin!
Hopefully you can figure out the trip part more to your liking. Covid did create some challenges. Your last trip was sweet.

The GA Traverse was a fun trip. Randy, the guy I went with called the other day and is wanting to do something again, we are kicking around some ideas now.

As far as my big trip, I’ve decided to put Alaska on hold for now. When I made those plans years ago it was not done much, a few dual sport moto guys would make the run and post up trip reports about it, maybe a couple more over on Expedition Portal but that’s it. Since Covid restrictions lifted it has gone crazy up there. ExPo did a podcast about it a couple of months ago. RVs in every wide spot on the road, even on the gravel haul roads that go north of the Arctic circle, no gas in some of the small fuel stops along the way, way too busy for me! Plus, there are now rental places in Canada and Alaska that will rent you a rigged out 4x4 with a camper to make the runs. Fly in and drive, no 10k road trip to get there. I’m still going to do it, but I’m going to give it a couple of years to settle down and I’ll probably do the fly and rent thing to give myself for exploring time vs highway time.

That being said, I do have the urge for a big adventure this year. I’m making tentative plans for the Continental Divide route from the Canadian border to Mexico. Maybe mix in some of the BDR routes too. Looking at July/August at the earliest to let the snow pack melt in the mountains.

    You want to tag along?

I don't go anywhere so I really enjoy the adventures of folks who do - just another sad case of living vicariously on the internet...

You can do this, look on the dash next to the start button, see the dial to the right? That’s the adventure switch, one click will get you going ;)

Nice, don’t blame you. That would be to busy for me as well. Until I retire (about 4-5 years) I can’t do it time wise. Hopefully some day.

Working gets all up in the way of fun. I’m planning on going through Kansas on my way up to visit the geographic center of the US. Maybe you can meet me there?

Start button  I have a genuine key! :boink:
    :gossip: (and 3 pedals too!)

The truck hasn't moved out of the garage since the end of November, I hardly ever drive it on dirt roads. :anonymous:
