I'm thinking Thursday/Friday for the mowing, the weather guessers are saying it should be clear all the way to Saturday - if you believe them...

I have a pile of things I should be doing all over, none that are for enjoyment - I need a hired man.
(and a budget for a hired man :pout:)

Good Morning Blevin & Pinger Fans

    Blevin ,
I've not been on TW much since I started leave Memorial day. Did you resolve your master cylinder problem? It occurs to me you might try contacting your regional Toyota service representative, if you have the time to research how to get hold of them? Seems obvious your truck got one of the bad M/C that were part of the recall. I haven't experienced a problem with mine, but I will be checking my manufacture date when I get back to Alaska. Even if you have spent the money for replacement, you might get Toyota to reimburse you? That failure doesn't seem right at your mileage.

    break break

I'm visiting My Chief in NJ, told him the "Shit Happens except in 23AF" story, and your validation of it 30+ years later, yesterday. We both had a laugh.

Hope you are well my friend. :fistbump:

    Good morning Jeff and Rob

Rob, the MC saga continues. After getting blown off by the purchasing dealer I called Toyota Corporate last week and filed a complaint. The initial CS rep said she was elevating into “higher level” and I would get a call back within 48-72 hours. This was on a Thursday so I gave it extra time. As of yesterday I’ve received no call back, I’ll be calling them again today.

The recall back in 2018-19 was on the MC from the lower trim level trucks, the Off Road was never included in that recall. My truck was made during that time frame and it seems there is an issue with the Off Road mc from trucks of that age but no official recall.

The mileage for failure of mine is what I’m arguing about with Toyota. We will see how it goes today.

I’m trying. I’ve told Toyota, I understand the truck is out of warranty but I’m surprised the MC isn’t covered under the power train warranty since it’s part of the “traction control and safety systems”. I’ve also told them I was willing to work with them and pay a fair labor rate but feel the MC should be on them due to the mileage.

I’ll give it about another week and then I’m replacing it myself as in not real comfortable driving the truck right now. I will continue to argue for reimbursement if I do that.

This master cylinder situation at such a low mileage... :annoyed:

So yesterdays adventure, Mike and I went by the archeology lab were we know some of the people from previous adventures. They have a volunteer program that helps them sort local artifacts that have been found. We got to help them categorize some old Indian pottery remains they recovered in a dig a few years ago at a local village and burial site. How old of pottery, oh 3-5,000 year old from what they told us! Not super exciting but pretty cool nonetheless.

Funny, all the grand & majestic things man has built from wood, iron, concrete, even plastics (when exposed to the sun) will eventually degrade away to nothing.

Yet the mundane dinner plate can last 3000 years.

Kinda adds a different perspective to our lives doesn't it?

It boggles the mind to think they were able to mix up a sandy, clay mixture and fire it enough to hold together. To then last that long after being discarded and buried is amazing to me.

The past few years the local university archaeologists have been doing a dig at the settlement site of the Tristin deLuna expedition. He was the Spanish explorer that established the settlement that became Pensacola, FL in 1559. They have been slowly doing the cataloging on the items they have recovered there. Mike and I are hoping to get in on some of that or better yet get to go on site during the summer time digs.

I know it’s nerdy but Mike and I enjoy it lol.

Todays master cylinder update, I called Toyota back and explained I had never been contacted by the “higher level” CS rep. They apologized, put me on hold for a minute, then connected me to Andre who will be “working with me on this to get it resolved,” we shall see…

Anyway, Andre asked me to go over my complaint with him which I did in detail, mentioning the prior master cylinder recall a couple of times, talking about the master cylinder being tied in the the stability and traction control safety system, the extremely low mileage this failure has occurred at. He asked me point blank what I was wanting from Toyota. I told him they should fix the MC as this was obviously a manufacturing defect at no cost to me. I did make the offer that I would be willing to pay a reasonable labor fee since it is out of warranty.

He told me he couldn’t make any decision at this time and the the next step Toyota would require is an inspection by a dealer service department which I expected. I’m set up to drop the truck off next Tuesday for them to inspect the problem and write up an invoice for the repair, I then have to send him the invoice. I’ve already sent him pictures I took right after I found the leak on the floormat.

Tune in next week for the next exciting episode.

If you guys enjoy it that is what it important, if you learn something all the better.

For years an old neighbor & his wife had a side job working for a farmer picking rocks.

They both grew up on farms and enjoyed the work, it was an extra dollar and good exercise.

His hobby was Native American studies, over the years they found many arrowheads, he had displays of them in his home.
