Good morning guys! Hope it’s been going well for all of you. Busy week for me, got a couple of hours down time this morning then back at it.

    Truck update time:

If you remember, I had taken the truck to the dealership earlier this week for the Toyota mechanic to do a diagnostic inspection and confirm the master cylinder is leaking. There I explained the complaint I have filed with corporate and got to speak to the shop manager and the service Director who both said they would open up a case themselves to see if they could get this resolved.

I heard back from them and good news, Toyota has agreed to make the repair on a 50-50 split since the truck is out of warranty. Not so good news, my half of the deal is still $1100 but definitely better than paying full price! I was expecting to have to pay a labor charge since it’s out of warranty, I was just hoping I could come in a little lower than this.

The only part of it that really irked me is Toyota said the reason they will only go 50-50 is because they have not seen the truck for any service in 18 months. Eighteen months ago is when I had the 10,000 mile oil change, I’m just now at 19 K, which we all know is the next oil change interval. I did the 15K “inspection service” myself because I can do it in the driveway quicker than it takes me to drive to the dealership. With me doing it I know the tires WERE rotated, front prop shaft u-joints have been greased and I made sure the driver's floor mat was in the proper location and checked that the all important cabin air filter was clean

I have the truck back while waiting on the new master cylinder to get shipped to them, hopefully by Monday or Tuesday then we will get this wrapped up.

    TGIF Blevin!!! :hattip:

Good to hear they are splitting the cost with you.

Will you get to keep the defective part or will they keep it? I wonder if they will warranty it through Toyota to get the full reimbursement for the dealership, while still charging you half? :argue:

    Have a great weekend!

Good morning Jeff and Mark, have a great Friday!

I’m going to ask for the defective MC when I take the truck back, not sure if they will let me have it. Toyota is involved in the deal, as far as how they handle it, I’m not sure. The service advisor I’ve been dealing with did mention warranty labor rates which are apparently different for the dealership. I’m sure it’s to my disadvantage lol.

Lots of dealer service techs here. Wonder if one could say on the rates. Super frustrating though with it all.

I think the dealers set their own labor rates for service, Toyota pays at a different rate for warranty work.

It has been frustrating dealing with it. If the purchasing dealer had just listened and offered to open a case like this one did I would have been a lot happier with the overall process, still not happy about the failure though.
