Thanks! Always wanted one since they were released. Worked out a deal with a guy in Canada and finally got it built up.

Hitting up a LBS tomorrow and hopefully getting my first road bike. Looking forward to owning a bike after about roughly 10 yrs of not owning one.

I went in and checked out a few bikes last week but there was a limited selection in my size. The LBS I’m going to check out tomorrow is a Felt dealer so I’ll probably go with them unless they have something else available. Originally I wanted a Cannondale but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I’m just looking for something reliable that I can start with and eventually commute to work in.

793FD02E-25D4-4B68-8300-335E43E1B34C.jpg Here’s the bike that I was looking at picking up for $1500. Felt FR5. That price is including lights/tool kit and small pump/water bottle cage and water bottle. I’m holding off on clipless pedals for now until I get used to riding again.
They had another Felt bike that had disk brakes but it was another grand. I’m kind of split on getting this bike or waiting for another disk bike to pop up, but I feel like this will be fine for what i’m going to be doing.
Maybe I’ll end up building one in a few years.

If you are currently riding mountain bikes, and want to limit the shoes you wear, you might want to look at road bike SPDs. I installed these on my road bike, so I don't have to maintain two sets of shoes. I also prefer being able to walk normally when I get off my bike.

I have Shimano SPD pedals on my Specialized, too. I do like being able to walk a bit more normally with them.

I don't know what kind of terrain you ride in, @BoomBam, but for me, the disc brakes would be a waste. If you feel like you'll regret not getting them later, it would be best to wait.

I’m not currently doing any mountain biking, however; I’ll look into these as a solid option. Thanks

How did you decide whether or not disk brakes would be a waste? I’m new to road bikes so I’m making a decision based off of the videos and articles that I’ve seen.

The roads I’ll be riding now are pretty flat (rolling hills at max) and I don’t plan on riding while it’s wet out. I also don’t think I’m comfortable going down any long steep slopes that I would benefit from having disk brakes. When I do feel comfortable enough to do that I might be thinking about piecing a bike together that fits those specific needs anyways.

I feel like I just talked myself out of disk brakes for now. I think I just had to type it out to justify it.

That's pretty much my rationale for skipping them, too. The most aggressive stopping I need to do is for a stop sign. :p

Kinda new to the road scene. Was into mountain bikes back in the early 90’s, yeah I’m old AF. Picked up my first real rode bike almost two years ago, Trek Emonda. I feel like I stole this immaculate bike for $375.00 Was riding a DiamondBack hybrid. Picked it up from my cousins pawn shop.

No doubt! I thought I was doing good picking up my Roubaix for $600 when it was still worth about $1000.

    Great score, @t4daddy!

Last deal fell through, ended up with a Trek Emonda ALR 5 Disk in Purple Abyss. I wasn’t sure about the color at first but it quickly grew on me. 37070BCD-FC17-416D-9A4B-1334E369E518.jpg
