Nice bike! I broke out my old hard tail this afternoon and road around the block with the kids. It was my first time on a mountain bike in over 2 years. I don’t even want to try a trail. It’d be embarrassing. It’s insane how different the two styles (road and mtn) handle.

Thought I would say hi and join the club.
My 2021 specialized diverge gravel bike. Road a hard tail mountain bike before this one and was always on the road so I deceived to change it up.

also so happy to live in Sacramento where we have a bike trail that goes 64 miles round trip. I feel bad for people that have to ride on the road with cars

    Nice! I have a 2018 Diverge E5 Comp. They’re great bikes.

    Nice rides, @t4daddy and @pahaf!

But I gotta give the edge to pahaf for the Specialized. :D

That would be me. We have bike trails but they go through town, you have to stop for traffic, they aren't kept up all that well...

It's just easier to go down the highways. No lights, not a ton of traffic and the drivers are usually pretty decent.

so when you share the roads with the cars, are you on the shoulder/bike lane or are you sharing the actual road with the cars.

The highways I ride for the most part have nice wide shoulders. Google maps link as an example: https://goo.gl/maps/yN5YzJWhkxtJKKpY9

There are some spots where you have turn lanes and stuff that some up but for the most part, it's like that link.

I rode a 2014 Diamondback Haanjo flat bar Cyclocross bar upgraded with old school Ultegra groupset and drop bars until yesterday. I sold the Diamondback and bought a 2017 Giant Contend SL2 Disc. I actually came out on top by about $100 on the deal (thanks Craigslist). The Giant is noticeably lighter and faster on my 10 mile out and back local route than the Diamondback. I attribute it to weight. I'm hoping to enjoy the Giant as much if not more. Oh and it fits in the back of the DCSB TRD PRO with a mismatched camper shell just fine lol.

That Giant looks fast, those disc brakes will come in handy.

The bike only looks fast until I start riding it. I'm afraid the motor on that thing is in needs of a tune up.

After 20 years away from road bikes I picked up this Allez back in April about a week before getting a grade 3 ankle sprain. Fortunately it healed up enough that I could get out and complete my first 50 miler last weekend; shooting for a century this fall :)

So I have an old a hell (2003 vintage) specialized allez that has served me faithfully forever and a day. Before I hurt my back riding my tri-bike many many moons ago I had the idea of upgrading the current shimano 7x3 drivetrain to something else. I still like the bike and it's serving its roll well yet again of getting me back into cycling, just curious if it's really worth the money. At the time my main motivation was getting rid of the downshift nub and making them inline on the brake handles (i'm sure that's the default on everything these days).

Those are a great wheelset, really light and strong and they will take the punishment that will damage a carbon rim.

Was just pokin at having trek parts on my specialized bike.....yes, they are light and have held up great carrying my 200lb a55 for about 10yrs now. Only frameset is original.....everything changed was for reasonable costing weight reduction on aluminum frame bike. Got it down to 17lbs from 21.5 how it came.
