Ya tried a couple. Most of them are really over priced. LBS gotta make some money off them.

Added a new saddle today a Selle SMP Extra. Looking forward to a ride probably not until the weekend.

If anyone wants the Selle Royal Viper I took off let me know.

I have been running the Extra for about 200 miles so far. It's a little wide for me but it is comfortable and is good for climbing. I don't know how it will feel on a long ride of 50+ miles as it may be too soft but I plan on getting in a couple of longer rides before the weather turns.

I have heard others say its a little wide. Its just a hair wider than my old saddle so I expect I will be ok. I'm just looking foward to maintaing the circulation in my boys!

Yes, circulation does keep flowing. I haven't had any issues since I bought this seat.

Anyone have something along the lines of a GT tachyon? Something like this MSRP is 940, I found a deal for 700 OTD at REI.

It's kind of a hybrid, with the straight bar and I was told the wheel base it a little shorter then traditional road bikes. I had a really nice GT 5 series, but had to sell it because some medical issues making the bent over position not doable anymore.

I think this would work though, and it's only to class, work, and maybe the store. Possibly an early morning ride every now and then but nothing special :p.

What are your guy's thoughts? Think my money can go farther?

I myself was considering something like this. But after going to the shop and talking to the workers there they recommended a road bike for the type of riding I was doing. They did say that this is a good all around bike and if I was looking for more of a commuter rather than putting the miles I do, they probably would have recommended this bike. They didn't have one for me jump on though, so I can't really say how it feels to sit in the saddle.

What kind of bars/gels/chews do you all use when riding? I have been using Cliff bars and Honey Stinger energy chews. I was thinking of trying gels instead of chews because at time it becomes difficult to chew and breath at the same time, sounds stupid I know but it gets hard when your tired and breathing heavy. I also just bought a box of Honey Stinger waffles as well, I am getting tired of Cliff bars.

That Cannondale was one of the bikes on my short list. It was either that a Scott Speedster, or Giant Defy. When I went to my LBS they didn't have the Cannondale. I test rode the Scott and about one hour later with a new saddle and a few other things I walked out with the Scott.

    Congrats on the new bike.

Anyone ever bought used carbon? I'm looking at a co-worker's 2008 Roubaix frameset that has ~6k miles on it for $500. Still have to look it over for hairline cracks and stuff, but I think it will be a good deal.

Look what I brought home today! This thing went on sale for about 30% off so decided to pull the trigger on it. Its a Cannondale Synapse 7 :woot:

The other bike I was looking at was was a Cannondale 5 105 which was 50$ more at 750$. What I didn't know was that one has a MSRP of 1450  Why didn't I get that one :annoyed::frusty: :p

But this one fits me to the "T" and feels perfect so I am happy with it :).

Time to save up and get a few goodies for it.

That's a nice bike! I'm kind of partial to older steel framed bikes. I just picked up a 1985 Trek 660 cheap. It's in real nice shape under the film and dried out grease. Getting it ready to ride now, changing up the gearing some for the hills around here and my 56 year old legs.

If you haven't been on a road bike before you probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Shimano's Sora and 105 groups but the 105 does shift better and definitely is more durable. You made a decent purchase regardless of componentry.

I've ridden a few bikes before but they were never a "real road bike". But I did notice a little difference in the speed of the shifts. I figured I'd get something for comfort first and if I decided to get into racing I can upgrade :)

:spy: Also if anyone has some lights or any other gear they want to get rid shoot me a pm we might be able to work something out :spy:

Dude, check out these lights. I bought a pr of them to have backup or so someone else could ride at night too. I've had $200-$300 sets of nightsuns and such and these kick some serious ass for $32.00. I have had no issues at all, the battery lasts over 3 hrs on hi, have not run them dry yet & they light up like a mofo. 1800 lumens = about 20 watts. These are better than the 20 watt hi on the more expenisive lights I had by far. The battery is small too. It fits under the stem instead of a big heavy ass water bottle size like on the other ones. They have lo/hi/strobe settings and the strobe is like some rave club thing. It's crazy. Highly suggest. Comes with 2 different bands to attach to different sized bars. I had concerns about how the bands hold the light to the bars at first but other than finding some similar sized silicone badass o-rings to replace them with after the rubber ones age enough to be useless, I have no more concerns about that. They work great and the light stays put even on rough trails. Check them out..............

Still looking around for a road bike. Can't really find a good deal on a used one around me so I am gonna wait around and see what comes up but in the mean time I have taken up going to spin class. Bike about 80-90 miles a week in spin class and working my legs up.

I have some maddux rs 3.0 on my bike and I like them. Dont know much about wheel sets though and they also came stock :p

If I am looking at a used pair of shoes, are there any wear spots I should look for?

These are them, He said a little roughed up from changing flats but for 20$ I'm willing to try them :p They are Mavic Pelaton

So I recently moved to CO, Ive lived in PA for a while where I started riding.
    1. Once I start an incline my lungs just start burning. Im guessing its teh altitute. I didnt think I was that fat and out of shape.
    2. PA has short steep hills, you dont really need to break that much on, Im not use to teh hills here, there really long and you get going fast! Do i need to worry about burning my brakes up? When do you need to change them?
