Thanks! Stole it from someone who shared on FB lol

Thanks dude! You using your corner that way always had me prioritizing figuring mine out lol

I mean realistically with how close they are that is kinda in the realm of possibility

Haven't needed to touch the truck much lately, but haven't used it really either except to go riding a couple weeks back.

Had some time to work on some smaller things though.

Swapped the Colby valve from the trail repair in MA for a quad valve stem like a bunch of you recommended:

Swapped the fluid in the trans tonight to confirm no metal shavings. Good to know it's likely TOB, I'll ignore it for now.

Got some Christmas presents from my wife that will bring me some motivation:

Now I need to find a shop that can fix this:

Going to try not to go down a wormhole of doing sound proofing while I add this in.

Given the highway miles needed to get to even your nearest, shitty, east-coast trails :luvya: I would say sound deadening is well worth it.

 I mean you ain't wrong. I was born on the wrong coast and am stuck here for another couple years. It's been on the list since forever, really wish I did it when I did the vinyl floor but couldn't justify the money before Moab.

Exactly. Plus I won't hear the motor screaming at 3500 rpm's anymore  I really do over analyze all the noises so maybe I should just let shit catastrophically fail on me and deal with it all at once. :p

If you're gonna do it, make sure you do it right and add the butyl backed stuff as well as the foam.

Two of these was enough to do the floor, back wall and my doors.

I used the thinner 150 mil on my doors and the 315 mil on the floor and back wall. The trim on the back was hard to put back on so in hindsight I wish I did 150 on the back wall too.

Doing it right involves MLV and not just the butyl. I put this stuff on the floor of my 2nd gen, and it made a huge difference.

    https://www.amazon.com/Second-Skin-...x=ml,aps,103&sr=8-2-spons&smid=A27VO4GWW2EDGM

It's heavy, thick, and a bitch to install though.

haha I was going to say this same thing, doing it right means MLV. That alone will help with all the engine noise if I can get it as high up on the firewall as possible

I guess there are different levels to doing it "right". I just hate seeing people go through all the effort of deadening and only add the butyl stuff because that alone isn't going to do much. I dropped about 10 db in my cabin with the butyl and the foam. I didn't add the MLV due to added cost and effort involved. I felt I wanted to draw the line somewhere.

Which is why I do things the right way only half of the time and then end up paying for it later.

You mean like having the cab look like this for vinyl install and not doing sound deadening at that time?

Did some searching today for that Driver's side plug today. Toyota classifies it as a <Female> 2P Waterproof Type plug.
Since its capped off, you'll need the <Male> 2P Waterproof Type plug, which is 90980–11050

Just ordered mine today, comes with terminals and electrical terminal connectors. Going a slightly different route than we talked about, got a Xmas steal on some CR-Grade Neoprene seat covers (aka Wet Okoles) so not going seat heaters, but rather lumbar support and going to use this plug for it.

2 rolls did the entire floor and a little ways up the firewall on my access cab 2nd gen. Then just put the cheaper butyl and closed cell foam everywhere else.

    Great thanks.
I'll give that stuff a shot when it comes time for me to do the interior of mine.
It's definitely a bit loud in there.

How did you adhere it down since it doesn't appear to be adhesive backed?
Just lay it down and use ducktape around the edges?
