Spray adhesive. Unlike the butyl stuff, I don't think how well it's attached makes a difference to how it performs. I just used a little to make sure it didn't move under the carpet.

@betterbuckleup this adhesive isn't cheap but worked great on the other foam I was gluing down.

:bowdown::bowdown: Damn Greg you always are such a huge help when it comes to this stuff. I was just going to hack into that wire but putting an actual Toyota plug on it would be much cleaner.

Not much has been going on, finally finished fluid filming the film to prep for a trip to VT over Christmas Break. The weekend before I was supposed to go we spring a pinhole leak in one of the copper pipes. This led to us getting the the upstairs plumbing replaced and my trip getting cancelled. While I do continue to have holes in all my ceilings, I was able to reschedule the trip for this weekend.

We got some snow and took the kiddo out sledding in it.

I took the truck for a rip and the thing was definitely struggling to start but still started. I drive it maybe once every couple weeks now, and never long enough to give the battery a good charge so i decided to grab a Noco Genius 5 for it. I got this one especially after some good reviews I saw on it's "repair mode".

I read that I think I actually have to remove the battery to use the repair mode (or at the very least fully disconnect it from the trucks system) because the pulsing can damage some electrical components. Now my truck probably doesn't have many fancy computers to disrupt but I don't really want to take the chance. I do plan on trying this out at some point to get the most life I can out of my 5 year old Northstar.

Oh and I got the dart board chalk board mount up too.

So far so good on the new washer res holding fluid as well. Hope this one holds up a little better now.

Beat winter storm Izzy to VT and revisited Camp @Chux last weekend. Was definitely one of the more intense camping trips after the snow cut off nearly all my ventilation, and woke up to realize my propane heater was leaking when I smelled it at 6:30 AM.

    Fire made it hella comfy.

Wind and snow picked up at around 11 PM.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Woke up to around 8" or so and it continued to hammer down during the 2 hours it took me to dig out and pack up.

Definitely panicked a little when I couldn't move the snow off my rainfly enough to get to the zipper too.

The drive out was relatively drama free once I got myself dug out a little. I did come across the fact that the plow guy already put a giant snow mound in the middle of the road. I said fuck it and hit the gas and blew it all right open. Was a little concerned it was going to be harder packed and I would be in for a hard hit.

Spent the rest of the day at Mt. Snow enjoying 12" of fresh powder all day before driving the 5 hours home. All in all a great overnight trip.

Really hoping this was due to a frozen and clogged breather line.

Yeah I can't wait to go full floater to never deal with this again. Going to check the breather, brake clean the tire and run it, see how it performs. Then assess from there. Been working on the house so trucks just sitting lol.

Oh don’t worry, the full float Sterling in the back of my F250 found a way to do that to me too

Replacing the seals are heck of a lot easier in a FF. Same thing with the bearings, plus they last longer since the hub is independent of the axle shaft and doesn’t carry the vehicle weight.

Spend 3/4 the time to save 1/8 the price. Sounds good but you have to be committed to the bearing anyhow.

    So you're saying don't replace a bearing?

You should check to make sure the bearings didn't get their grease rinsed out by the oil. New seal on its own won't always be the long term solution.

I agree unfortunately there’s no real great way to check the rear bearing is screwed without replacing the bearing. That’s the downside to the SF axle

if you can tell me a way to check the bearing is good without having to remove the hub let me know, otherwise by that much wasted time you may as well just replace it.

Dude what side of the argument are you on? I suggested replacing the bearing and turning the outer race / spacer the opposite way to get the flat side contacting the seal upon reinstall, not the tapered side as instructed by the FSM and simply removing the shaft you can check for excessive play. I need a nap - probably missing your point lol

I did not see where you recommend replacing the bearing, only turning around the seal retainer my apologies. But you are already into the pressing activities to get the seal retainer off so I think while you are in there it would just be easy enough to replace the bearing while you're at it yes. I know for my bearing failure there was no excessive play but the inside was rusty as hell and looked terrible, didn't know until I got into it.
