Ha now that I know how it works it will be easier next time. I did 2 things to help it. I knocked the bracket over a bunch so I can actually access the 14mm on top. I loosened and retightend the 14mm so it wasn't on there with the hand of God. And now that I know all it needs is a flat head into the slot, if I can't get it from the bottom next time again, it really is as simple as slightly lower the trans, pop in the cab through the shifter hole, and stab it with a flat head.

@turbodb will these work? Took out the DSLR for it but I'm a noob when it comes to figuring out macro focus.

*EDIT* After looking at your chart I grabbed this cell phone pic too to show the stuff on the left more, but can't really see that there is no 4wd sensor on the case:

Well @slander you predicted the future. I forgot to open that clip before we reinstalled the transmission last night and I couldn't get it back open with it reinstalled. At least it will make it easier for myself if it has to come out again. :p

But yeah @Rockbaron1 came over last night to give me a hand on reinstalling the transmission. Between his help and the new jack it was super quick and easy. Was great having a second set of eyes and hands. So last night we got the transmission in, crossmember reinstalled, and I finished installing and routing the wiring harness. This morning I reinstalled the inspection plate, the new shifter bushings from Marlin, and the interior.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

All that's left is the starter, the drive shafts, and skids to go wheel Rausch. Nice to have would be swapping out the clutch spring and it's bushings as well as checking it's free play. I have a linear spring that I can install too that I've had forever but I figure I give those bushings one last shot.

Lol!! I just shove that wire bundle up and on top of the trans and it somehow stays attached to nothing.

As for the clutch I have been running the same linear spring since like 2009, so much nicer than that factory bushing/spring setup.

Prob why you can get it out in under an hour now :p I also imagine getting to the inspection plate is much easier with SFA and no inspection plate/power steering rack in the way too

It is, however I still forgot that plate one day since the sfa and was about ready to set the truck on fire when it wouldn't drop LOL!!

The trans jack helps a ton as well with the speed and ease of dropping all that.

Yeah after borrowing my buddies, it's on my wish list. Maybe not for my current shop as floor space is so limited, but my future shop for sure.

I use the shit out of mine, you find all kinds of uses for it, hell it was my welding cart for 6months:rofl:
mines nothing special just the Torin/big red trans jack. I love being able to minutely adjust the trans with the turns of knobs, makes everything so much easier and less stressful.

I have that transmission jack, got it when it was $100. Used it on a tranny and a t case and it’s actually pretty solid for the price.

Yeah I can definitely see them being handy. But between the regular jack and the bike lift I am super limited on space.

I saw that one and I feel like it can def do the jobs I do, I mean the bike jack pretty much almost did it too. But an overkill jack makes everything easier. Rolls easier, adjusts easier. Now that I had the big bertha I want the big one :anonymous:

This is it. Once this is wrapped up and the trucks back to being fully skidded I'm good. Should get it rolling out of the garage tonight hopefully. Then skids on sometime this week depending how it sounds/feels. Just want to test the locker too and make sure the actuator isn't acting up. Other than that it should be fine to get beat on for a day.

Dude did you see that other way to push those around?

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cf_s3G6FUSf/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

    Fucking game changer.

Also truck has the skids on and took it for a test drive. I expected the new CB to get rid of the vibes I have from 70-75 mph but they are still there. Got a new sound from the drivers front that seemed like loud tire noise (almost like there is something in it like a rock) and when I slam my brakes it pulls left hard. I am assuming it's alignment related since it's been a couple years since i have had it done. Nothing related to the transmission though and that's all that matters. I do hear a little bit of noise from the trans, can't tell if it's the input bearing or the TOB, or even the fork itself vibrating. Completely goes away with the clutch fully depressed. I could be over analyzing though, I do that after I fuck with shit.

Either way I got the soft top back on and I' ready to wheel Takeover this weekend. Going to try sleeping in the bed again, I might hate it in this heat though. I got 2 dc fans (one for intake and one for exhaust into my soft top), so that might help keep me cool.

I really need to get that proper door made.

Peak at the calipers and slides especially if its pulling.
Northeast is never friendly to brake calipers and pistons.

Im thinking your right caliper has one or more sized pistons resulting in the left side having more stopping power.

Edit; I missed Gregs post, definitely check calipers

Yeah definitely had it happen before, typically a result of hanging around in the pines too. The calipers and slides were brand new and greased in January of 2020 but I guess that's a long time now. Weird how some projects feel like they were just yesterday.

Found the weird tire slapping noise from the driver front... maybe I should rotate my tires more, or like ever.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Checked the alignment cams from when I marked them, they all look like they haven't moved. I never got it realigned when I installed the coilovers in 2020 but I figured I was replacing one lift with another so didn't seem to be a priority.

The wear pattern is evident on both fronts, but for sure more evident on the drivers side. Super weird that it like skips a lug set.

Edit: Just learned about scalloping/cupping. Some interesting shit. Could be out of balance, hard to blame the suspension though since that's relatively new.

Takeover went great, truck performed flawlessly. The group we had started with @Rockbaron1 @EatSleepTacos @HolyHandGrenade and @planters15. We ran the first half of Beaver Creek until @HolyHandGrenade came down on a rock and completely sheared a tie rod.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

After we knew Tim had a strategy to get off the trail we continued on and bounced at the halfway point of Beaver creek. For a manual truck on 35's with no crawl box the trail is more annoying than enjoyable. Mostly just rock gardens and tight trees, all fun in small bits but annoying for 2-3 hours. Reminded me a lot of the back section of trail 20 (after the fun creek ledges).

Some pics of my truck on Beaver Creek:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

From there we did a bunch of random shit (lots of fun off camber sections, pizza rock, etc).

After looking at the pics when I got home I realized I never aired down my airbags...

After that we hit my favorite trail of the day, a red called Crawl Daddy. This trail was FUN. A steady uphill climb dodging big rocks, down trees/poles, wash outs etc. Now there is an obstacle on the trail that is actually "Crawl Daddy" that none of us did because we just wouldn't fit. It is guaranteed body damage. We did see some Jeep buggies on 40's make it through while we were on the trail though so that was sick.

I have no pics of this one but I do have a bunch of videos that I need to edit together. I also need to get the higher res versions from the people I was with.

After that Pat split off and Q, Randy and I finished the day on trail 2/crawler ridge.

Sleeping in the bed worked out awesome, we had night temps in the high 50's, low 60's so I was really comfy.

Also went out last weekend for my Son's 2nd birthday to the pines with @Rockbaron1 and @HuneyBear69.

This was his first forward facing trip and I tested a couple things on this trip. Him forward facing, and my fridge behind me instead of behind passenger side. It was definitely more uncomfortable but still manageable. I think if I ever did a bigger trip with him I would move the fridge to the bed.

Everyone had a good time, including Mac.

No real big trip plans or mods planned now besides keeping shit maintained. The drivers side cv boot completely tore at the clamp again at Rausch, I think due to the clamp hitting the coilover at high speed. I need to swap that CV and get the proper misalignments in the ADS shocks.

Also trying to ride every second I can too.

Been revisiting some old wheeling spots with the bike lately.
