Primed the bracket with self etching primer and painted with chassis black.

Then final mounted it into the tool box.

Some solid updates thanks to @PSU Taco85 . We got my sliders welded back on! Now I can really wheel the fuck out of my rig again.

We also tackled welding all the supports for the transmission skid too. This was the first thing that was pretty much fully welded by myself. And it shows. :anonymous:

But it was awesome practice at least.

We also worked through hooking up my relay for the two way switch. I'm glad I asked for help on this because I was confused as hell. And I hooked up my pin switch this morning so now the switch lights don't turn on until the tool box is opened.

Thanks dude! And the Short Circuit movies were some of my favorites growing up too! Input need more input!

And the time has finally come. I set an appointment with Coco customs AKA @Wheelspinner to tub my firewall.

I got there around 5:00 Friday and we went to work and got one side done at about 9:30 PM.

Since there are already a bunch of awesome write ups out there I won't really post in that fashion. I followed @Blackdawg and @mrbeggins write ups and photos as well as some links that were posted in Monte's build.

The only thing that Steve suggested to me that I don't think we saw in the other builds was that once we saw where we need to cut out, before we cut we drilled holes almost like a road map of where to cut and see if we would fuck shit up on the interior if we did cut there.

Side one, removed coilover, made marks and started cutting:

Next up was making the template and cutting the 20 ga. to go in.

The nibbler I got from Eastwood made easy work of this.

J5 was a sad mess at this point.

After we got the template made it was time to weld. Since I was inside on fire duty and Steve was welding, not many pics came from this till completion.

Haha Toyota when they gave me my damn truck back! Since I have my sister's wedding/trip to Poland for half of June, I know I have a ton of shit I wanted to square up before NTC. And I have almost no weekends to dedicate to the truck so it's mostly 2 hours a weeknight anymore except this past weekend of course. Still got a decent amount to wrap up but it's definitely coming along well.
    Fuck yeah!

    More work done.

After the seam sealer I wanted to be 100% sure everything was sealed up. Steve already welded shit up real nice so there wasn't much to seal but I rather over seal anyway.

Primed/painted the inside and primed/flex sealed the outside:

    CE397CB0-E9C0-4864-B714-65EA147204D1_a8a794048cda0011baa751f5216ae941ee59e877.jpg

Then went to finishing the never ending saga that was my tailgate project. Never doing body work again, fuck this shit.

Wet sanded and buffed the tailgate thanks to @HomerTaco letting me borrow his buffer while he's heading to Moab.

    4E026829-C21F-42F3-AB54-C6E23E9EAB42_ead7a06909231ed50480b44e8278fd47c218e21d.jpg

Then waxed it and final mounted the license plate and new light. The biggest thing was getting the plate off the bumper where it would drag or get removed from aggressive #NFG wheeling.

Tested at night and damn it's bright!

So glad that project is finally done. Next projects will be cutting the fenders or installing the head unit.

Got the next step done to stuff 35's, chopped front fenders. Rear's I gotta get some help with since I gotta take the bumper off just to get the flares off. Not much to it, used a combo of the angle grinder, body saw, and pnuematic cut off wheel. Took 2" off all around.

Got some trim at pepboys and even though it said it had adhesive in it, I used emblem/trim adhesive as well anyway.

Yea it seems like most people do that by grinding down the stock clips. I want to hopefully sell my flares with the clips so I gotta find other clips I can use. I kind of hate how high I had to cut so I am hoping to get fiberglass flares in the near future.

The flexy ones? I dig those, would use them if I cut past the holes but glass is really my ultimate goal.

Thanks man! Hit a local spot this weekend. Nothing challenging but fun to get offroad for the first time in a while.

Got the painted mid skid on, and replaced my PS pump with a warranty replacement. The one before didn't even last a year...

And I always forget to plug the return side of the res when I flush. :anonymous:

Finally hooked the power antenna up. Put it on a switch so I can turn it off when wheeling but still have the radio on for Pandora.

The breather it came with was a dinky little piece of 6" hose that kept falling off so I extended it into the engine bay with some spare fuel line.

Thanks man. I really am surprised how quick Steve and I knocked it out. We beasted through it in a really short amount of time when a lot of people told us it couldn't be done.

Looking forward to getting the new tires on in a couple weeks just in time for takeover. You coming up for it again?
