Only concern I have about opening the tank up is snapping one of those tiny fucking bolts. But I guess the least I can do is open it to clean the strainer and replace the gasket. Really don’t want to replace the pump just cause though.

I never realized how much the gas tank protected the gas tank until I got the 80 rear axle. Wheeled damn near 10yrs without so much as scratch on the shaft, first day out with the 80 axle I dented that bastard!

Saying that my fuel tank only holds like 10 gallons now and I want to swap in a new one with the low range skid so I don't have to stop every 2hrs for fuel on a road trip.

Yup. That’s why I’m stoked to get a normal tank back. Normal tank plus installing a way to carry an optional extra 10 gallons puts me at 28 gallons. Almost a 400+ range, which would be amazing. I’d love to raise the tank, and then build a trac bar/drive shaft skid. Best of all worlds for sure.

Here ill move it to your thread. Are you sure a drz will fit straight in the bed with the tailgate up? I know you have a 6ft bed and i have a 5 ft but even with my tailgate down it took up almost all the space (78inches total).

I want to be able tk do light wheeling with my bike in the bed too. By light i mean being able to keep the tailgate down since i have to. I moved my 315/75 back under my bed. Id try to get the spare back under there if you can.

I know your pain of the tire being in the way though. Mine constantly was when i just had it in the bed. Moving it in and out to be able to take the bike or something else

No spare under the bed for this cat... he’s got alternative plans for that space.

It won't fit with the tailgate up, just barely won't close theoretically but I won't know till I get one. I figure pull the tailgate, (only while transporting) and the swing out will give me the 4-5 inches I need. Under the bed is where fuel storage is going, so that's out.

Ah..id plan on a 78inch length of front tire to rear tire. If its in sm. Dirt setup and its going to be longer. Long bed definitely helps you out, makes me kinda wish i got one.

My first step is to get this R6 on the road and out the door so I can get the dough for a DRZ. Definitely making some progress, hope to get it out of the garage under it's own power this weekend.

Dirt mostly. I'm hoping to find an SM that someones already done the work for having both setups. I don't have anywhere near as many fun places to ride street anymore. Getting something I can ride dirt with and explore state/national forests with while using my truck as a base camp is the ultimate goal.

Youre going to be over 78 inches then which i cant imagine the swingout is going to give you the room. If youre ok with having the bike diagonal then you could fit it.

The beauty of building a swng out yourself is that you can take that into account like the stuff @loosnut posted below. I can literally do whatever I want to make sure I can get a bike still in and close the swing out. Ideally, if I go a cut out route, I will do two, so I can run two bikes in the back if I ever needed to haul a buddies as well.
