I cant tell from those pics but is that Schrader valve on the res exposed to being whacked by a rock like that?

You know you will come down right ontop of it, Murphy's law!! Looking good!!!

Thanks man! Yeah I am still figuring it all out. I also worry about the uca slamming down on the hose too.

There is a protective cap on the valve if there is a valve there. I guess there is a risk but I feel it's gotta be the perfect shot for something like that. Time will definitely tell. I can't wait to fix the rubbing on the passenger side and let 'er rip. Going to get some gopro shots of both the front and rear and see how she holds up. But that won't be for at least a month.

I’ve seen 3D printing used for making valve covers and things on shocks and hydro bumps - if you know anyone with one you could make some for the shrader valve cover to protect it.

Idk how much a 3d print would protect from a rock. Good idea though
If it's gonna break it, it's gonna break it imo. At least in that resi location

Yea i get that. but with how a Schrader valve sticks out from the resi, hard to imagine how a large plastic cap/protective cover would save it from a collision with a rock.
If it's gonna take out the cover, it's gonna take the valve with it.
Would be good for protecting it from gravel and small looser stuff on the trail though!

The ADS' have an aluminum threaded cap that covers the valve, I think you would push the resi up before breaking it.

Yea this is all hypothetical. I agree with @cynicalrider in that it's gotta be the perfect shot it to happen in the first place.

I have a printer I got a while ago, but I don't have much use for it these days. Thinking about selling it.
Wish I could 3d print metal because plastic has it's limitations. I really only see it being useful for printing stuff for in the cab.

I had one I used at work that I really enjoyed playing with.

Mike, did you ever cut the drain plug off your diff and weld it up?

Going to do that on my new to me housing and wanted to see how it's been done.

He’s away on vacay so it might be a little bit before he gives you a 100% factual answer but last I knew the drain plug was still there, it was just welded in place so it couldn’t be knocked loose. That was a while ago though so he may have redone it. It’s also possible he added diff armor maybe so the added thickness is flush with the welded drain plug but I may very well be mistaken, there has been a good amount of progress on a few of the local rigs this past year so it’s hard to keep track lol

    A few tweaks
I did that to mine. I ground off the ring around it and welded in a piece of bar stock into the hole.

Check here, for a quick how to. Tack'd Mike's drain plug along with mine while we were at Rausch. Pretty sure @cynicalrider still hasn't welded it up fully yet. :boink:
While your in there welding might as well get a diff stud eliminator and get rid of the studs for the 3rd member.
