Perfect. Should make it easy to make plate bumpers for my T100 without cutting a bunch of triangles completely out.

Well I know this has been a plan in my head for a while now, way longer than this posts ^^ age, but I finally accomplished a goal I have been working towards for at least 2 years now.

The R6 sold in a week when I listed it, and then I waited for my son to be born before I looked out there again for a bike again. Found a super clean one in Maryland and set it up. Hit up @6 gearT444E to see if he would be down for a ride to look at it (strength in numbers when meeting strangers lol) and came home with it.

The dude lived at the end of a nice street with multiple acres, and when his garage door opened his garage art made me know we were on the same page lol

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

I stalked the dude out a bit before I set it up and saw we both were part of the TAT group, and saw he actually had the bike I was looking at on the TAT. Turns out this bike ran the entire TAT to Oregon and back. Cool to have a bike with that history and know it was purpose built similar to the way I built my Tacoma.

Anywho, here's the specs on the new toy.

    2008 DRZs with 10400 miles.

    Mods:
    Rekluse clutch
    Cycra Handguards
    Thumper Talk Case Savers
    Tonns Fabrication skid plate
JNS Engineering LED headlight w/ custom built guard
    Aftermarket luggage rack
    Jetted with FMF pipe
Larger storage via a ABS pipe
    Relocated ignition cylinder
    Waterproof USB plug/voltmeter
    Larger gas tank
    Kickstarter

    Photo dump:

The first thing I did was pull the custom fabbed headlight guard off because I didn't like the look of it.

    Much better.

Mod list for this thing really isn't much.

    Build a new tool kit/roll
    Spare tubes/parts
    New LED front signals
    Rim locks

    SM front fender
    Black side plastics
    New graphics

And even then only the bolded shit is priority. This bike is made to just fucking go and enjoy and I'm stoked about that.

Looking good, and the storage is not PVC but those are beyond the level of detail :p

Soon. I'll probably just start with quick rips to the pines with a newborn and all. Working on insurance today, and registration this week maybe.

So far so good. Which is good because I keep a down sleeping bag in it and if it got wet I'm screwed lol.

Mike, Howd you have those camp lights mounted in the bed? Im thinking of doing a similar set up, do you run them with the truck off?

So the pole would free stand in the CO2 mount. It literally wedged in perfectly.

You can see the gap between where the CO2 is held and the back wall of the mount here:

And yeah I ran it with the truck off all the time. Though between that and the fridge I hit the fridge cut off a bunch.

Threads been dead. Not much going on with the truck currently. Need to start making the base for the rack but don't have much time to commit to the garage except a half hour to 45 mins here and there. So when I have time like that I am working on another small fab project and if I get 2-3 hours on weekends I go riding. At this point I figure the rack and bed reorganization won't happen till it is too cold to ride.

In the mean time I have been having a great time exploring the pines. Tons of trails I never knew existed and are too tight/boring for the truck.

I did finally fix the valve stem I busted in PA in May:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

But destroyed my Colby valve trying to remove it. I emailed them asking if they sell replacement gaskets and they said they plan to but not yet. In the mean time they said they will send me some for free! I appreciate that kinda customer service, willing to replace it even though it was user error.

I also got in on the MORRflate group buy.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

I'm excited to try it out. I plan on putting a hook on the back of the drivers side seat to mount the carry bag on.

Nice - I saw a video with that technique. I'm thinking if you only had a long bottle jack / hydraulic jack and bigger tires you might be able to make it work!

Yeah I think a bottle jack could easily do the same thing against the frame.

Oh forgot I made a video of some riding:

Truck still sits mostly, but I did get to ride some rocks with @Wheelspinner a couple weeks back and then find a cozy spot in the woods to enjoy a smoke before heading home.

    Some things I found/wanna improve.

I need two loading ramps instead of one. The airbags have bumped to the top of the list. Hoping to dig back into the rack project soon to retrofit it for bike hauling. A rear swing out is also high on the list to get rid of this wayyy to small motogate.

Not much going on. Riding season is pretty much over so I am looking back at the truck to get it ready for winter wheeling and hopefully camping. I made a quick holder for the MORRflate setup.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

This lets me keep the holder out of the way and easy access to the system.

Also a quick inspection of the truck made me realize I potentially installed the wheelers lines wrong and installed it with the stock bracket as well as their bracket similar to this:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Which lead to this on the drivers side, me almost ripping a brake line out when the bracket hit the coilover:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

So I pulled the OEM bracket:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Also noticed this boot twisted up... not sure how that happened unless that axle is snapped.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

But ignoring it for now, need more time to deal with that.

@R.A.. came over four our yearly fluid film session:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

And started piecing together the next big mod for the truck:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

Lastly I finished up a project I will be giving my son for Christmas. A little history, I originally got similar names like this made for my groomsmen at my wedding (paid a guy),and then paid the same guy to make one for myself but with the chain that snapped and almost made me wreck/destroyed my R6.

    Bike that snapped:

[IMG]47681859_655703479790_8404744252260614144_n by Michael Halat, on Flickr

And the name made with the chain:

[IMG]IMG_2318 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

I figure now that I had my own welder I could make him one with the chain that came off my second bike, and was stolen several years ago.

Bike that was stolen and the old chain still on it:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

    Mid process:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr
    And final product:

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

[IMG]IMG_5387 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_5382 by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]IMG_5390 by Michael Halat, on Flickr

It took quite some work to clean the chain up. Lots of surface rust from when it was sitting in an old storage unit. It's gotta be at least 10 years old or more. I made the stand because this is going to sit on the shelf above his crib and even though the name is stable and we won't have it on the edge, it's extra piece of mind in case Jersey somehow gets a major earthquake lol. It was fun making him something from my MC history.

Ya know what....I think I did the same on my brake lines :anonymous: Now it makes sense why that bracket doesn't fit in the stock bracket
