Since it's not available in the US, price is hard to compare.

If you want to compare the price difference between a GMC with diesel vs. one without, the difference was substantial when I bought mine. But, the diesel came with a different transmission and some other options I never bothered to price separately (the ones you have to take with the diesel option).

Still kind of hard to predict for the Tacoma but that's probably in the ballpark.

Not that you dont fap, the fact that your only arguments come from unjustified statements. It's alright though your starting to amuse the hell out of me.

Maintaince and repair is not more, I will agree that yes they mark the sticker up due to the casting process of the motor internals, mechanical pump, filters, exhaust, etc. etc. however in the long run overall maintenance is less being that the motor can handle more abuse due to its design and characteristics. My 85 300 TD went 166k before I sold it. Only thing I did to it was an oil pan becuase I thought I could prerun it and put the return oil line right through the pan. Forgot to mention that I drove it for another 10 miles before I realized this. That was around 100k that I did that.

I will agree that tacing out is fun esp at high revs I rather make power sooner. And yes people have built big numbers with bolt on builds however did they last as a daily?

Yet does it get 20+ mpg...

I can push 20 MPG with my V6... Not an overly uncommon thing.

Also, I kind of agree with most of Whipper's arguments. I'd love to have a diesel Tacoma but diesel vesions are generally more expensive initially and certainly can cost more to maintain and upkeep. Everything inside a diesel engine is more built up compared to their gas counterparts. That's a big part of the reason they last soo long but also the reason parts are more expensive. You also have a turbo maintain.

I can't argue that one... my last truck was a Chevy V8 with a Gibson Supertruck exhaust. Sounded pretty mean

Had a chevy V8 that I did a minor build on, motor ended up taking a shit on me and left a bad taste in my mouth. Wont own a chevy truck post 1982.

What setup on your truck are you running? I dont even get 20 in my 4cyl with a more open exhaust, lighter oil, manual and babying it.

Now how many diesels have you had that necessitate parts replacements so often? And how often do turbo's die out on diesels? I have had one and worked on various. Other than fuel lines being updated by the manufacturer I have had no issues. O wait there was a water pump that went out on a 210 (Eclass) but that was because the guy went with a cheap plastic pump replacement over the OEM so his would overheat. Cost the same as the 210 petrol version....

Did being the key word in that statement. I have yet to meet anyone down here in Phoenix get better than 18 out of their extra cab or double cab 4.0 liter. Most of them on average get around 16. Auto and Manual configurations.

On a side note my cousin is over in Afgahn right now. The Navy uses the hilux/taco quad cabs with D-4D's. Long traveled with built deavers bumps the full 9. Last time he had leave we talked about them and the only thing they are consistently working on is the suspension due to the load those trucks will carry throughout its daily routine.

I really enjoyed the D4-D Landcruiser Prado I drove when I was in Costa Rica. It required alot of throttle to make it up some of the larger hills, but it really hummed along and still got ~26 mpg

Isn't that Landcruiser also 5,500LBs? Thus a 4,000LB Tacoma would essentially get even better MPG's?

And go up hills easier, tow loads more economically, last even longer, and in the long run use less fuel. Also crawling and LT capabilities.

I have a 2007 4x4 DCSB with a shell. I'm slightly lifted with 265/70R17 A/T tires. I think I can do even better if I go back to a skinnier tire. I've had fluke trips where I averaged 24 MPG.

So far my experience with diesels has been, when parts go, they're expensive to replace. We had one diesel crap an engine at 100k miles (oil pressing past the rings), oil changes are typically more expensive (I believe Ford charges $90 for an oil change and using different oil causes it to run like shit).

That's because its a ford diesel;). I change my own oil sooooooo I dont pay the labor charges. Yes diesels take a thicker oil and more of it so that does cost a bit more. I however have never had issues with diesels. And yes smaller tires will equate to better milleage, less road friction/drag/weight. You do realize campers dont help in aerodynamics, myth busters disproved this theory....
