This might be something you'd be better off asking on HID planet. The new MH1's I think some people are having trouble with. The D2S has not had as many design changes. I couldn't tell you much more regarding specifics.

    H1 all day.

the D2S may have a more even light output and brighter high beam, but it's nominal compared to the wider light output of the H1 and the most important factor, you don't have to modify your housing to accommodate the H1.

You don't modify your housing with the D2S either....

Negative. The housing does not have to be cut to accommodate either the Mini D2S or the Mini H1 hence the "mini" term associated with them.

OP, if you are dead set on doing a mini retro go with the new H1 6.0. It has some impressive output for the size of the components and the minimal effort that the retrofitter needs to complete it.

OP, if you haven't already, make sure you check out HID planet's forums. I am pretty sure some people were having issues with the new MH1. They may have fixed them by now, but you'll want to make sure

I have the D2S, so I'm gonna recommend the D2S haha.

Installed it August of last year, and it still going strong.

If I'm not mistaken the D2S have more options on shrouds?no?
I used the Gatling gun shroud to fill in that big ass reflector bowl.

I would suggest going straight for the FXR. I have the H1 and I'm happy with them but in hind sight regret not going for the full setup up off the hop
